June Rides/Events

Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. sharp - Oh Melo Velo (OMV) [scroll down to Bicycling 2009], Ed and David, MacGregor Village Shopping Center, all paces, ride halfway till sunset then turn around. This ride leaves promptly at 6:00. Post-ride chow and guzzle at MacGregor Draft House.

Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. sharp - Slow Spokes No Drop Group Ride, Master Lieutenant Rick F. with alternating Lieutenants, MacGregor Village Shopping Center, all levels from beginners up are welcome, arrive by 5:45 to be ready to leave promptly at 6:00, ride halfway till sunset as a group at a pace that the slowest rider can maintain, then turn around. Post-ride chow and guzzle at Casa Margarita Restaurant & Cantina.

Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. sharp - Slow Spokes No Drop Group Ride, Rick F and Diana W., Salt Box Village Shopping Center. All levels from beginners up are welcome. Arrive by 9:15 to be ready to leave promptly at 9:30. There is a 34 mile or 48 mile option. The groups will stay together as one group at a pace that the slowest rider can maintain for the first 19.7 miles, then the two routes diverge. The 34-mile route will always be no-drop. Depending on how many riders show, the 48-mile route might not be no-drop.

Saturdays, Selma Cyclepaths rides begin. Also see their section on Triangle Cycling.

Sat./Sun. June 6 & 7Tour de Cure

Sun. June 7Team CBC, details TBA, Holly Springs.

Sun. June 14 – Slow Spokes, any location, (need leader)

Sat. June 2010th Annual MSFits, Ice Cream Ride, 20-25 miles and 62 mile routes, RTP.

Sun. June 21Team CBC, details TBA, Holly Springs.

Sat. June 27Ride for Tammy Lynn Center, 31 and 62 miles, Centennial Campus.

Sun. June 28 – Slow Spokes, any location, (need leader).

****************
This list of rides is intended for planning purposes to help leaders organize rides and riders plan which rides to attend. When no Slow Spokes or Team CBC ride is listed, I include large organized rides as a suggestion. This list is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all rides in the area. If each cycling group/shop adds their rides to the Triangle Cycling calendar, that would be a good start toward having a comprehensive list.

Anyone interested in organizing/leading a ride, serving as ride sweepers on Sun. June 14 or 28th, any location?

I can volunteer to help whoever leads, be it handing out cue sheets or liability waivers for signature.

I'd like to suggest Shearon Harris for selfish reasons (it's close to home!) but can be convinced to meet up elsewhere.

I know we had a pretty big crowd at SH a couple weeks back, I'm hoping some others will jump on the bandwagon with me.

Jerry

Hey all, I'm doing the Ice Cream Ride on the 20th and was looking on their site for a cue sheet but it doesn't look like they have one posted. Does anyone know the route or have a cue sheet for it?

I was thinking of riding at SH this Sunday. If there's an organized ride and I agree to help out, that means I have to go. Long-term forecast is not promising, but hey it's four days away.

Hi Beth - Sorry, cue sheets aren't available pre-ride. I can tell you that the 25ish is primarily in the RTP area and that the Metric Century goes out towards Chatham Co. We're not releasing cue sheets before the ride for safety reasons - particularly that construction sometimes causes us to change the route (like 2 year ago!) and we don't want someone with an advance cue sheet to be riding on an unsupported ride.

Hope this doesn't cause an inconvenience and looking forward to seeing you out there!
Blanche

Thanks Squirrley & Blanche,
I understand about the possibility of route change issues and not wanting to post cue sheets. Can you give me an idea of elevation though? The folks I'm riding with are concerned that it may be a fairly hilly ride.
