Late notices are fine. There is no need to apologize.

Does anyone know the total elevation of the Thursday night ride? I'm asking about the route that reaches Old US 1, then turns around (approx 34 miles).
Thanks in advance.

I did not make it all the way to Old US 1, but to the training area on Shearon Harris Road (about a mile from Old US 1) and back (31.6 miles total) there was 1608 feet of climb.

Here is the link from two weeks ago when my group made it all the way to Old US1. My Garmin indicates about 3,900 ft.

Heads-up I may be bringing a guest to the ride, my son, if cleats get installed on shoes in time. He's ridden a fair amount before, but not w/ this large a group.

I do not know how Motionbased calculates elevation, but it is always high. My ride that Garmin Connect says was 1609 feet, Motionbased's MP Gravety Web Service says is 2819 feet, Motionbased's GPS Elevation says is 1808 feet, and Garmin Training center (which I know uses the altimeter that is built in to the 305) says is 1406. That is four different services giving four different ascents from the same ride.

Hi Rick,
Add Debby, Karla and myself to the list. Is there a tcx file anywhere for the route?

Well, it sure felt like 3,900

Dark Helmet,
I hate hills, but this ride doesn't have what I would consider to be major climbs. There are several climbs, but I think they are easy-to-moderate. We will have an initial climb up Old Raleigh Road that I would consider to be on the easy side if you're warmed-up properly. If you're starting the ride with cold muscles, then it will feel like more than that simply because it's right at the beginning. There are three climbs on Tingen Road...one easy and two moderate (the second one is the worst in my opinion). An easy climb on Friendship and then Shearon Harris road is relatively flat. On the way back, you'll hit the Tingen hills in reverse and there is a long but very gradual climb (probably 2-4 degrees). The last 3 or so miles of the ride are mostly downhill.
