Did my first group ride today. I normally ride alone so I was a little nervous about riding with a large group.
I arrived at The Grocery Bag about 7:45AM and started getting my gear on. Carried my bike to the road and pedaled it over to the Grocery Bag parking lot. One of the ride organizers was handing out cue sheets and made a couple of comments and announcements and we were on our way.
Since I didn't know what the pace was going to be like, I figured "better safe than sorry" and went to the back of the group. I fell in with a couple of older gentleman and a lady and the 4 of us ended up doing the entire route together.
I thought the ride was excellent.. the route was relatively flat for the first 45 miles or so then it turned into rolling terrain and the final climb was quite a challenge. This was a supported ride and I thought the sag personnel did a great job, providing water, Gatorade and snacks at the rest stops.
Overall, it was a great time. I'll definitely be joining them again for future rides.
