I should have gone with my gut instinct. When I don't, I usually regret it later. This is another one of those times.
Initially I had bought a Polar CS200CAD computer. It's Polar! The standard of heart rate monitoring! I really wrestled with the decision. If I had researched it a little more, I probably would have went with the Edge 305 out of the gate but instead I talked myself into the Polar CS200CAD.
I've used it about a month and it is a really good computer. The cadence is rock solid, the speed sensor is about 99% reliable and the heart rate is, well, Polar. Thing is, it didn't have all the things Ive come to really like from logging all my inline skating work outs.. no GPS data, etc.
That being said, I Ebay'd the Polar and bought an Edge 305. I have to say, the 305 rocks. I have a Forerunner 301 Ive had for a couple of years and the 305 operates pretty much the same way and has about the same feature set. I took a short ride with it tonight and it's truly the best cycling computer I've ever seen. The GPS data is rock solid, even in areas that are somewhat covered. The elevation stuff seems to have been corrected in the latest firmware update and the data logging is more information than you can really digest in one sitting. You can break a ride down mile by mile if you want to and really look at how your pace varied through the ride.
Overall, big thumbs up to the Edge 305! Anyone looking for the ultimate cycling computer, this is it!
