Slow Spokes Jersey Pickup/Social--Meet New and Old Members and Place New Order For Jerseys

Date and Time - TBA
Mellow Mushroom (http://www.mellowmushroom.com/main2.html)
601 West Peace Street
Raleigh, NC 27607
(919) 832-3499
Directions (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=601+West+Peace+Street,+27605&ie=UTF8&z=15&ll=35.789516,-78.647261&spn=0.016501,0.043001&om=1&iwloc=addr)

The jerseys arrived a week early. Someone suggested we meet at a restaurant to hand them out. Mellow Mushroom was recommended.

We are also making this a social and inviting all Slow Spokes to attend. It’s a great opportunity to get together and meet other members.

Also, if you didn’t order a jersey or socks the first time, you can try on our jerseys and I will start a second order. This will save the expense of ordering and returning fit kits (about $40), which adds a few bucks to the cost of each jersey. Minimum order is 16 jerseys and/or 16 socks, so we need at least 16 people wanting jerseys and/or socks to place another order.
16-24 Jerseys, $58
25-49 Jerseys, $57
Add $1 or $2 for shipping

Please provide the following information by Tues. Jan. 30:

1. Which dates are best for you.

Tuesday, Feb. 6, 6:00 p.m.
Thurs. Feb 8, 6:00 p.m.
Fri. Feb. 9, 6:00 p.m (we must be out of the restaurant by 8:00)

2. Ride Without Limits (http://www.ridewithoutlimits.org/site/PageServer)

Larry Thompson with the Easter Seals contacted me and wants to give a brief presentation about their ride. Are you interested in a brief presentation at the restaurant?

Michelle is helping with organizing. Reply here or send MichelleW a private message by Tuesday, January 30 with your availability and if you want a presentation on Ride Without Limits.

Thanks

Zonda

Tuesday or Thursday would work for me, but not Friday. I am the meet referee for the high school swimming championships on Saturday, Feb 10 and have to be at the pool from 6:00 AM until 9:00 PM, so I do not want to go out on Friday.

I will be riding in the Sea Gull Century with my daughters and sons-in-law the weekend before the Ride Without Limits, and I do not think I can do back-to-back event rides. I think a presentation, though, is a good idea.

It looks like Tues. is the date most people are available. If you can’t make it Tues., other options are to pick up your jersey at the ride this Sat. or at the NCBC meeting Monday. If that doesn’t work, email me and we can set up a time to meet.

We will have a short presentation on Ride Without Limits (http://www.ridewithoutlimits.org/).

Here is a list of people available for Tuesday. If you plan to attend the social or want to order a jersey, please let me know by the end of the day Wed. We need to give a head count to the restaurant so they can have enough waiters available.

www.slowspokes.net is redirected to the new site, so it probably is not necessary to change that on the jerseys.

well, i guess we're just delusional, but so far, he's not given us any reason not to trust him. he stayed at home last night while we went to the hockey game. he stays home alone quite often when we go out, as he's not interested in being with his parents at this time. although, he's not as bad as he used to be - he goes sometimes....we'll see if i can entice him with pizza :)

Yippie! See you Tuesday.

Some of the women commented their jerseys are a little tight around the middle. Mine is also, but I gain a few pounds during the winter. The jerseys stretch a little, so we will be fine after wearing it a few times.

After all of the discussion on the sizes, I tried mine on this morning. Mine fits fine. It is a pro fit (or racing fit), and not a club fit, so it is more tapered, but it does fit as I expected it would.

With the club fit, for the same chest and arm fit, the waist is looser than with the pro fit. If you were expecting a club fit, then the jersey will seem snug in the waist.

williamtash
02-09-2007, 12:29 PM
Mine fit snugg because it is slightly long for me because I am short I like it just the same I am not use to the full zipper that it has. The rest fits about like all the other shirts I have. I got a lot of complements from friends when i showed it off to them even thou they are not riders. They said it was a fantactic color and looked smart for a bike shirt.

It's pro fit, but not European cut (according to LG) so it's not as tapered. Pro fit would be like average size and club fit would be like plus size.

Are any guys' jerseys tight or is it just the ladies? ;)

Does anyone or every one have zippers that are reversed from most jackets?

JayC
02-12-2007, 12:50 AM
Pulled mine out of the bag tonight and tried it on. Its not even close. If these things are supposed to fit like the fit jerseys, they lied to you, Zonda. Unless my shoulders shrink, which I just dont see happening, I'll never be able to wear this jersey. The fit jersey was pretty comfortable, the other jersey you had was a tad tighter but wearable. This thing, if I put my arms down by my side feels like the sleeves are going to rip right out of it.

I can wear a freakin large tshirt but cant wear a XXL jersey. The sizing logic these jersey companies use is ****ed.

KarenG
02-12-2007, 08:30 AM
dude, you shoulda got a XXXL like me. fits good across the shoulders & chest (not tight but it's not loose either), tight enough in the waist/hip area (but not too tight). sleeves are loose on my arms as well. if you want, i can try yours on and see how it fits and we can swap if it fits ok. K

I check the zipper on my red jacket and my other full zipper jersey and they zipper the same way. The zipper head is on the left side. I have sewn for 45 years and that is what use to be called the femal side. The head of a zipper for a male side is on the right on a jacket as you zip up. So for a guy it will feel wrong So you are not nuts about the zipper CharelyM3

RickF

That might explain the tight fits. If the jerseys in the fit kit were men's and the jerseys we received were women's, they would be too small. There is a big difference between the two according to the LG web site:

Men XXS XS S M L XL XXL 3XL
Chest 34 36 38 40 42 44 46 48
Waist 28 30 32 34 36 38 40 42
Hips 34 36 38 40 42 44 46 48

Women XXS XS S M L XL XXL
Chest 28 30 32 34 36 38 40
Waist 24 25 26 27 29 31 33
Hips 31 33 35 37 39 41 43

well, by that chart, a XXL women's won't fit me, not in the chest department

i received a XXXL (it wasn't a bit snug either) and think that if it's a men's and Jay's is an XXL men's then maybe we can swap. by that chart, i'm between an XL and XXL in the men's sizes.

of course, if Jay has a women's XXL, then all bets are off, unless something shrinks a whole heck of lot on me :D

Jay - lemme know what you want to do....

I measure mine and it measure a womens 32 there is now way this is a 36. I put it up against my male xs and there was a big difference. I am telling you that these are womens shirts at least mine is. That would explain yours not fitting right in the shoulders and chest.

JayC
02-12-2007, 04:09 PM
Ill measure it and see.. there is no way this jersey is even CLOSE to what came with the fit kit or the other jersey Zonda had there that was the same size. I'm also 20#s lighter than I was when I tried that jersey on.. I was afraid the XXL was going to be too big.. I sure didnt expect it to be way too small.

You can try on this one and see, Karen.. XXXL jerseys always end up really long and I try to avoid them. I still dont understand what the purpose was in sending a fit kit and then sending us something completely different. LG should have an explanation for this.

williamtash
02-12-2007, 04:42 PM
I know that the one I tried on was a little big but this one is fine and it is a womens like I said. I believe what Zonda had us try one was a mens but not sure. Maybe there are both mens and womens in the oder that came in. I would check with Zonda. She usually gets a mans shirt for the length. Maybe she can check for you

RickF
02-12-2007, 04:49 PM
I just measured my L, and the chest is 42", so even though the zipper is backwards, the size is correct for a men's L. I was on the border between a large and a medium, and got the large because the medium was too short. It is tighter than the large I tried on, but in my case, that is a good thing.

Zonda
02-12-2007, 07:28 PM
I called LG and they said this style only comes in Men's version, so it's not a female jersey. They asked me to mail a jersey to them so they can measure it to check sizing. I measured my Medium and Large. It is 38 and 38.5 in the chest instead of 40 and 42. Something isn't right since some are correct and some aren't. They should get the jersey by Friday.

As far as the zipper head on the left side. I have several men's jerseys and the zipper head is on the right and left side. Charley pointed out in an email that the studmuffin on the cover of the March issue of Bicycling Magazine has the zipper head on the left side. I think zippers are different than button direction for men and women. LG didn't have a comment about which side the zipper head was on.

Lets give LG an opportunity to correct the problem. Everyone should measure their jerseys to see how much it is off. Looks like we will need to return some of them to be replaced. Sorry for the inconvenience.

KarenG
02-12-2007, 07:37 PM
alright, i just measured mine...i measured 44". i'm not sure what's up with the sizing on these....it seems to fit like all my other ones......maybe it's an XXXL women's?? a men's XXXL would be WAY to big for me.

i usually have to order men's jerseys, as women's tend to not go big enough for the well endowed women :o. i do know that it fits like my other jerseys and they are mostly XL (men's).

would it be possible for Jay to send his back and get the correct size?

TracyW
02-12-2007, 07:44 PM
I am not sure that I saw a "studmuffin" on any magazine earlier at Wal-mart. Would that be in the crossword book section?

As I told Zonda the other day, my jersey fits well except for the sleeves.

JayC
02-12-2007, 07:53 PM
The reversed zipper is a Canadian thing.. I have a lot of clothes made in Canada as I used to vacation there a lot and all the jackets reverse zip. The LG stuff might be made in the USA (I didnt look to see where they are made) but LG is a Canadian company.

Zonda
02-12-2007, 07:58 PM
Any jerseys that are incorrectly sized, I will asked that they be replaced. If they refuse, I'll address it with a manager. If management refuses, I can request a charge back on my credit card...:)

williamtash
02-12-2007, 11:35 PM
that would explain the zipper. my size measures a 32 for xs and the male is suppose to be a 36
which would have been to big for me. I think the company will work with you to fix the shirts Zonda. We had this happen with Karate gi's before the company's usually make good if you can show them the problem with the sizes
I agree the socks fit great.

Remember that there are two different covers for the March issue of Bicycling Magazine. And I don't believe that "studmuffin" was the word that I used to describe that individual.

I know that it's raining there. To help keep that in perspective, its 18 with light snow fall where I am now. I'm going to ride with my sister Thursday night. Brrr!

Zonda
02-20-2007, 09:05 PM
I emailed LG today and asked if they received the jersey I mailed back for them to measure. They hadn't received it. She said they has a snow storm and mail was delayed. I'll update you when I find out something.

Zonda
02-25-2007, 10:53 AM
LG received the jersey I mailed Thursday and said they would measure it and measure the same size in the fit kits. I'm waiting to hear back from them. I'll email her at the end of the day Monday if I haven't heard from her.

Zonda
02-28-2007, 07:47 PM
LG said the small jersey measured less than an inch smaller than the fit kit jersey. I told her some of the other jerseys were as much as 4 inches off. She said the diamond square fabric runs a little tighter than the micro sensor fabric. Not sure why they don't have fit kits for diamond square fabric.

Here is the resolution. I already placed another order for 16 jerseys of various sizes (moreso larger sizes) two weeks ago. Since it would take 8 weeks for LG to create new jerseys to replace the ones that are too small, you can exchange your jersey for a correct size when the 2nd order arrives. Since I have all sizes, you can try on several until you find one you like. It should arrive around mid to late April.

Sorry you have to wait, but if the jerseys were returned, you would still have to wait. The people I recall needing another size are Sandy, Michelle, Jay and Tracy. Mike D said his was a tad snug. If he wants to exchange it, he can. Anyone needing to exchange their jersey may do so as long as you haven't worn it. If there are others, please let me know in case I need to modify the order. It will be going to production any day and I won't be able to make revisions.

zonda mine is fine in the shoulders it is to long from neck to waist and i don't really think they can do anything about that. I'll most likely pull it up some, If it got bigger I could not wear it. Since you are getting the other oder if the other sm fits and no one want it or need it would it be possible to buy it

TracyW

Hey Tracy. I have an XXL that is bit too tight and has not been worn. If Zonda can put your's back into 'stock', you take mine and then I'll get one from the next order. What ya think?
I say if Zonda don't mind then let's do it.

I don't mind at all. Glad you don't have to wait for the next order to come in! Thanks Michelle!

After careful deliberation, I have decided to just keep my jersey instead of trading it. I think the next size up might be too baggy. Ill just live with the tightness and continue to lose weight.
