I have made the crs file for Saturday's 40mi route. Haven't added the turns to it yet; will do that tonight and then upload.

Has a start time and exact location been set for this ride? I checked the calendar and no details were listed.

Either time is o.k. with me. If it's not too cold, I will ride...;) Any one else??

Hope the weather is warmer and we can rally some folks to come out to ride together in Wendell. I've been off my bike almost two months and OMV is only a month away. I might need to bundle up, suck it up and just get out there...

Don't sweat it if you can't make it. :-) I am going on the raleighrides.blogspot.com on 2/18 at fred fletcher park this week.

I went on the slowspokes ride last week from the coffee mill, had a great ride. CHILLY, though! brrrr

Hey, I didn't know slowspokes rode from coffee mill last week.

I am planning on joining. Watching the weather to see how cold.

Hi all. I am going to try and make this one, but may only do the 30 miles since I am still not able to keep up with Karen. :)

It's not me you have to worry about keeping up with. JayC is the speedster that I'm trying to emulate :), so we all (or some of us) are getting faster due to that.

I guess I better start saving for that road bike or I will never catch you speed demons. The scary thing is that this is the "Slow Spokes"! What are the fast spokes like??????

David

awww, you'll do just fine. there are only a few of us; a lot of the times, if there are more riding at a faster pace, we will sometimes regroup at the intersections, giving everyone a chance to catch up.

come on out! don't be 'fraid of us :o

Mike H. and Todd,

Are you planning to ride Sat.??

KarenG
02-15-2007, 06:17 PM
can someone let me know who's gonna be riding and who needs a crs file for which routes?

i'm pretty sure Jay and I are doing the 40mile route, but are other routes needed as crs? lemme know. i won't be home till around 9:30-10, as we're going to the hockey game. i can get them done tomorrow evening, but i need to know what to do.

We are planning too. What is the start time? Will do the 40 route.

Karen suggested 10 or 11:00. How about 11:00 since weather.com says it will still be cold, 41, but feel like 36.

Since DJW is planning to ride and I can't ride next weekend, I'm planning to ride since we ride a similar pace (as long as he's on his mtn bike...:D) He'll be one of the hammerheads once he gets a road bike!

Who else plans to ride? So far we have:

40 Miles
Mike H.
Todd
Jay
Karen
Tracy

20 Miles
Me
DJW (DavidJohnWeaver)
Tommy (maybe)

How about we say 11:00 a.m., so we can finalize this? I'll put it on the calendar entry and the thread heading. If we need to change it, I can revise it tomorrow.

What average speeds are on the 30 and 40 mile routes and about how long would each ride last with breaks? I have some stuff to do later that day but would like to ride with you all.

Tommy

The 30 will probably be 12-14, the 40 probably 15-17 depending on who else shows up. I probably wont ride hard on Sat unless someone else shows up to help pull things along.

KarenG
02-15-2007, 11:03 PM
i'm back from the terrible hockey game. someone let me know who all needs crs files. i will post them tomorrow evening, most likely before 9pm.

i will definitely do a 40 mile crs as i know me, jay & tracy have garmins, but is there anyone else who needs a crs file for either the 40 or 30 (or shorter) routes?? lemme know!

karen

c'mon! you're not gonna ride hard?? i know why - you're gonna be nice to me cause my quads and calves are still killing me right?? ok... i'll pull as long and as hard as i can as long as you're behind me yelling the Jayism's that should be well known by all :D

and for those that don't get "it", see the sig :p

KarenG

crs files for the 30 and 40 mile routes. it would be a lot easier to do crs files if the routes didn't return using the same roads. hard to add the turns.

Jay - check them out & see if they are ok.

the SS file has both the 30 & 40 mile routes. then there's the routes seperately.

TracyW

I pray that I will be able to keep up with you two tomorrow. :D

There are several people riding the 20 mile route. If you wanted to come out and give it a shot, you'd definitely have some company :)

Zonda

Welcome to the group! Yes, it is open to beginners. If you don't feel up to riding 20 miles, you and I can ride the shorter route. Come on out!

Looks like 10/12 mph winds today. If they are headwinds I hope the Hams and Quads can hold out.

KarenG
02-17-2007, 09:46 AM
ewww. i don't like wind, but ya know, if you can ride in it, it'll help you get those hammies/quads stronger :)

maybe this route (40) will be all through the woods and they will block all the wind.....

What a cold day for a ride!! Brrh!!

Welcome Dajuan on his first ride. He did great and will soon be riding with fast group. David's legs were spent from riding earlier in the week, but he hung in there!

Riders 8: Me, Dajuan, David, Jay, Tracy, Karen, Mike H. and Todd

Me, Dajuan and David
Distance: 12.25 miles
Pace: 11.7 mph (we had 13.6 on the way out then hit brutal head and cross winds)
Time: 1:03

Mike H. and Todd
Distance: 16.08 miiles
Pace: 11.7 mph
Time: 1:22

Karen and Tracy
Distance: 28 miles
Pace: 14.8 and 14.6 mph
Time: 1:53

Jay
Distance: 28.45
Pace: 15.4 mph
Time: 1:51

Mike H. and Todd encountered an impatient driver on their return home who tried to pass them with oncoming traffic. Mike H. went mountain biking temporarily in a field so the driver could pass!! Hopefully, if we start earlier next time we can avoid the traffic.

Mike H., thanks for creating the routes and inviting us to ride in Wendell. I look forward to riding out there again!

It was on Mashburn. Some great riding and scenery where you were yesterday. Traffic is low most of the time. See everyone at the Frostbite.
