I was thinking about doing something after the ride on 3/17 (St. Patrick's Day), but looking at the calendar, there isn't a ride posted for that date.
I will be riding that day, somewhere, and most likely in the 40+mile range. I would like to meet afterwards, say, between 2-3pm at one of the following locations (or other suggestions welcomed):
Buffalo Wild Wings (Garner)
Flying Saucer
Mellow Mushroom
Cary Ale House
Lemme know who's interested in meeting after the ride and whether you would like to go to one of the above mentioned places or have your own suggestion. I would like to keep it more centrally located since we have members spread out all over the place (Garner sounds great to me :)).
I'll make definite plans after this weekend's ride at one of the above places or somewhere else. But, right now, I just would like to get an idea whether anyone will be interested in doing this.

Team GSK has a 36 mile ride scheduled out of Salt Box Village in Cary on March 17, with a get together at the Hibernian afterwards. I plan to do that ride.

I'm not sure what I'm doing on March 17. On March 18 I am volunteering a shift at a rest stop at the NC Bike Club Spring Rally.
I may be volunteering at Sally Ride Science Festival in Raleigh on the 17th.

Since we are on a rotating schedule and we'll be riding from The Spin Cycle in April, we should probably ride in north Raleigh again (avoiding Boyce Mill Road of course...) or maybe ride in Wendell. I'm flexible to whatever the group wants.
I'm in for going somewhere after the ride. Any location is fine with me.

Wendell...........Wendell...............
Is there a loop around Raleigh worth doing?
MikeD

Wendell certainly would be a change of pace. Anyone have any que sheets for eastern Wake county?

Here is my suggestion: I say we do the Raven Rock Ramble routes and then go to the Cary Ale House or Flying Saucer in Raleigh.
Of course, we could find a route in north Raleigh and the hit Flying Saucer on the way back. Or we could just ride around downtown and then hit the Flying Saucer when we are done.

I missed the Blue Jay Point ride so I think I will do the Gyro Beginner Ride (36 miles) from Blue Jay Point to the marina on Baptist Rd and back. That is unless someone comes up with similar ride.

When cross Old Weaver Trail around the 9.5m mark, look out for possible llamas between the goats, etc. immediately on the left.
If you get to the county line without llamas, then no llamas this ride.

Looks like it will be a little chilly for a 9:00 start. Is there anyone who won't come if we start at 9:00 instead of 10:00? I prefer an earlier start, but can start at 10:00 if preferred.
I will ride the 10 or 20 mile route.

Zonda, I will not be taking part in either of these events planned for the day.
If I can make it I will. May have other obligations to take care of. Will know by tomorrow night. (Might have to drive down to the beach and help folks do some post winter repairs.)

Hey Zonda. Please take me off the list for Sat. I had put my name in when I thought we might be riding from Wendell on this Sat. Besides, the weather is forecasted to be cooler than I prefer. Maybe next time.

Looks like it will be around 38 degrees at 9:00, so 10:00 may be a better start time. That's colder than I expected, brrhhh....
Please RSVP if you haven't already so we can figure out who is coming.

Some riders suggested doing a social on the 15th following the ride, but they are no longer able to attend. Is there still interest in a get together at The Flying Saucer after the ride?

It's not looking good for the ride tomorrow. I'm trying to touch base with others about canceling. Some think it's too cold and windy. Mike D is the only definite.
Also, looks like the post chow and guzzle will be canceled also.
Check back.

For all of you who thought it was too cold to ride, Dajuan and I proved you wrong. We road with Team GSK this morning. Our stats were
Distance: 37.5 miles
Average speed: 14.8 mph
Time: 2:32
The temperature at the start was 40
The temperature at the finish was 46
Wind from the NW at 8 to 15 mph with gusts to 29 mph.
It was Dajuan's longest ride to date and his first encounter with the hill on High House Road (where he dropped his chain twice).
