Please RSVP so we can plan riding groups.
Slow Spokes join the fast Oh Melo Velo (http://ohmelovelo.dnsalias.org/) riders to lead a slow group. See Ed's website Bicycling 2007 section.
Beginners are welcome to join this ride.
Please arrive in time to prepare your bike to leave promptly at 6:00 p.m. If you arrive late, David or Ed will leave cue sheets on their car back window under the wiper blade.
All riders should carry proper equipment in case they have a flat (spare tube, pump or CO2 cartridge).
It is strongly recommended that you carry your driver’s license and health insurance card in case of an emergency. You may also want to program your cell phone with an emergency contact number under the name “ICE” In Case of Emergency.
New riders should read Bicycling Hand Signals and Safety Pointers (http://www.trianglecycling.com/showthread.php?t=17385)

I will be there before and after the ride, but probably can't ride yet because my face is still pretty raw and I can't imagine putting a helmet strap on it. My shoulder, knees and wrists also are still raw, but don't think that would affect riding.
If you can't make it to the ride, but want to meet the group, come on over to El Dorado to join us after the ride. I did that April 2002 and that's how I met Ed and David.

I'll be out of town the first part of the week, but should be back in time for the ride.

I'll ride. Wouldn't miss it.
This is my first time there. Where exactly in McGregor village should I go?

Which El Dorado? I can't ride because hubby's out-of-town and the munchkin has dance class, but I'll come by if I can talk her into Mexican.

We park as close to 64 as possible, in the parking lot next to the bank. Keeps us out of the way of the vehicles coming in to the businesses in the evening (since the bank is closed when we get there).
Oh, and another thing - if you are used to rides leaving 5-10 minutes or so after the scheduled departure time, be aware that this one is different. Leaves _promptly_ at 6, so be ready.

I will be there. Since I am "leading from the rear" and we will only have 1:20 to ride, I am thinking about riding my hybrid. Baring any mechanicals, I figure the slow group will go between 13 and 18 miles in that amount of time.
It looks like it will be warm enough for a short sleeve jersey and no tights:).

Jon's not kidding on this one folks. We leave PROMPTLY at 6pm. If you miss the start, look for cue sheets on the back of Ed or David's car..usually under the rear window wiper and come join us.

I'm used to riding with a group that syncs with the atomic clock in Ft. Collins daily. When departure time comes, 30 seconds later they're gone. No warning, no announcement. If you aren't ready, you're dropped.
I'll be ready to roll on time. This should be a piece of cake.;)

Sorry about your fall. You are seeming to be very brave about all this. I saw the pic of your face. Ouch! I'll be there Wednesday. Hope to see you then.

200 tegaderm bandages, 70 2x4 bandaids and 3 tubes of neosporin later, I'm 75% sure I can ride tomorrow...:D

I have something to add. I've been talking to a writer at Cary Magazine, Jennifer Williams, about bicycle commuting and riding in general in the area. A photographer is supposed to meet us before the ride and probably along the route for pictures. The article should run in the May/June issue of Cary Magazine. I didn't want any one to be surprised.
Zonda, if you still have your helmet from the crash, please bring it tomorrow.

Also, Ed takes a photo of the group, so we need to make sure we have our bikes ready to go before the photos so we don't delay the start time and make him mad the first night!!
Will bring my helmet.

Photos:eek:
I was going to ride my old hybrid since I was planning to be in the rear, but if we are being photographed, maybe I should ride my good bike:rolleyes: Then there is the issue of which jersey to wear:cool: The lime green Slow Spokes jersey will clash with my blue bike. There are too many decisions to be made.

I'm thinking about my alter ego jersey from my sister's cycling group, Prairie Village Yacht Club. They're in Kansas City. Their motto is "Let's ride somewhere and have a beer".
Remember that I said "supposed to be there". Nothing is guarenteed!

Well, that 25% got me. It's hard to bandage skin and apply tape to skin with neosporin on it. The first fast downhill would blow it right off. I will be there before the ride and to go eat afterwards.;)

For future reference. All OMV rides are designed to end at sunset. Today, sunset was 7:21 PM. These rides are all out and back rides. They start at 6:00. You make a U-Turn at the time marked on the cue sheet, which is half way between 6:00 and sunset (tonight it was 6:40), and you come back.
CharleyM3
03-14-2007, 10:41 PM
We actually turned at 6:37 or so, but rode much faster on the way back. The wind was a much bigger factor than I had thought it would be.

Sorry I missed the first OMV ride. I was planning to go, but the wind on my bike commute home on Tuesday really wiped me out!
Scott and I are working rest stop #1 for the 60+ mile routes at the NC Bike Club Spring Rally on Sunday.
