Oops, I confused Elvis with the other married couples' (kckdunn and Dluck2) doggie avatars! Nothing against the dawgs, just thought Brian's new avatar had more pizazz!!

No problem Mike.

Getting names at least a few hours before the ride helps plan the riding groups. Also, I think it encourages others to ride when they see how many people are riding.

It sounds like you had much beter weather today than we did in Kentucky. Our high was about 46, which would not have been too bad if the wind was not 40 mph. I had a hard enough time walking in that wind. There is no way I could have ridden.

JayC

I rode 30 miles earlier today in 20 MPH winds with gusts to 27. It was great. Still managed to average over 17 but averaging 25+ with the wind at my back helped quite a bit :)

It was the first time Ive ever felt like I was going to get blown off the bike. I guess being able to see ocean on both sides of you doesnt give much shelter from the wind.

well, i'm glad that i came on out tonight, despite the wind. i ended up riding with Ed & Rich until the turn around at 6:52. I was with Jon at the beginning, but at the turn onto Raleigh Rd, Jon made it through and I got stopped for a bit. By the time I got turned, Jon was no longer in sight, so I just stayed with Ed & Rich.

We alternated pulling till the road before the last turn (I think) and Rich went on ahead. I was following him and gonna ride till my Edge said it was 6:52, but then Ed yells he's turning, so I decide to turn as well so that I can ride back with him. At this time, two women were approaching on the return trip, so I turned and grabbed their wheel so I wouldn't get stuck out there by myself. We caught up to Ed and all 4 of us pretty much road back in together and had a tailwind, fortunately, which helped a lot.

I'm looking forward to riding with these guys/gals again! I was kinda slow tho, guess it was all the wind on the way out.

There were a couple of A**holes out tonight. I had one go past me just blaring the damn horn and giving me the finger, so he got the same response. Then after we passed Apex Parkway (I think), about 3-4 cars pass and then slow down because one of them is turning. Well, that caused a problem because we were heading downhill and I had to hit the brakes kinda hard to avoid hitting the car and then had to use that new extra shoulder. A little hairy and I didn't have a tail light, so I cranked it up to get on back in as it was getting darker.

Afterwards, me, Jon, & MikeD went to eat at the Ale House with David Cole, Fredericka (prolly didn't spell it right, and we had that discussion as well) and her husband, Kevin (I think). Nice conversation and company after the ride.

Oh well. Still a good ride. See ya'll next week, hopefully.

It was a good ride tonight, tho' a bit breezy! I got caught between groups because of stop sign and traffic light timings, so ended up riding on my own for quite a lot of the outing.

I really wanted to get at least 30 miles in, so I was happy to get that done - though I ended up getting back a little later / darker than ideal.

I agree with Karen about the motor vehicle drivers out there tonight - must have been something in the air, because usually there are no issues...

Always nice to grab a burger and beer afterwards, though I missed having the Wednesday night drink specials!

Great ride tonight! Weather was super, except for a little wind. Food and great company capped the evening off nicely... until I got home and noticed a flat tire as I took the bike off the rack. I found a very small sliver of glass (Budweiser bottle I think) in the tire. Oh well, I got almost 1500 miles out of that tube.

Better at home than on the road... I'll take a flat like that any day!
