just scored a fuji track bike (it's a fixie - 48/16) off ebay today. no pics yet, but i should get it one day next week and will post some then. just wanted to get something different, as i don't really need 2 road bikes.
gonna ride this one around the house, 15-20mi or take it with me to work and ride at lunch.
here's a link (http://www.fujibikes.com/2005/bikes.asp?id=18) to what i got.
How do you stop? Flintstone style?

haha. yea. no, you have to install a front brake, which i'll get done at cycle logic since i have a co-worker that's "in" with the owner. you have to drill the fork, i think, which is commonly done.

So you've officially gone off the deep end now? See what hanging around with Jay leads to? :)
Bring the bike along sometime so we can see it!
Its not from hanging around me. Dont expect to see me on a fixie anytime soon. I value my knees too much.

no, this time it's not Jay's fault :D
one of the guys i work with has a fixie & a road bike, but rides the fixie more. i just wanted something different as i really didn't see the need for another road bike.
besides, i can more easily justify this purchase vs another road bike....this will help my legs learn to spin more, which will help in the TT's...at least that's what i'm telling the "other half" :D

Finally, after way too many days, it's arrived! I posted some pictures in the Gallery for ya'll to see.
It is really fun to ride - like being a kid again! No worrying or thinking about what gear to change to to go faster or slower - only one gear for this one, 48/16. It was so much fun riding it last night!
It will hurt your legs tho! In order to stop, since I don't have a brake, you have to use your legs and resist the pedalling to slow down. My guads (ryanfism) are a little sore this morning, but hopefully can work it out during the ride today...

Great looking fixie! I've been toying with the idea of getting one lately too. I can't decide whether to buy one or try building one. I happened to be looking at this one last night.

I'd want to put different handlebars on it though and definately add a front brake to it. I'd love to see your new ride sometime.

The Fuji Track is a great off-the-rack fixed gear, good purchase!
I commute daily on a fixed conversion myself: 42x16, w/ a front brake.
Any other folks in here ride fixed?

Welcome to the group!
This thread may have been overlooked. Tamim (Hammerhead) has a fixed gear. Note, Karen's is up for sale in the For Sale section of the forum.

Correction, I have a singlespeed. It's not fixed gear though.
I am pondering with the idea of converting it to a fixed gear however... ;)

Tamim, I didn't know there was a difference...;) Now I do.

haha, yeah. You can still "coast" on a singlespeed...aka, there is a "freehub" on the rear wheel just like any normal roadbike.
On a fixed gear, you cannot "coast". You have to pedal the entire time you're moving. Thus, if you're going downhill, you have to pedal like mad!
