Thought I'd share this with you guys since most of you don't read BikeForums.

A while back someone posted that they had started using an OTC creme available at Walmart and most other places as a chamois creme. I bought some, tried it once and put it away. Anyway, I ran out of Bodyglide and hadn't had a chance to get back out and get any so I dug this stuff out and started using it again. After a few uses, I've pretty much decided that this stuff rocks as a chamois creme.

The stuff is called Queen Helene's Cocoa Butter Creme and is available in the health and beauty section of most places. It's like $5.00 for a whole vat of this stuff. If you aren't stingy with application, it does a great job and seems to last through even long rides.

Here's a photo so you know what you're looking for.

Next time you need some chamois creme, pick up a vat and try it out.

i still use it. sometimes. i have found that really, really good shorts helps the best. for my rrr century, i didn't use anything. wore the giordana laser shorts and didn't have any chaffing, saddle sores or any kind of irritation down "there". sometimes, i'll slather some on, but on most occassions, i don't use anything.

i won't use anything for AoM on monday either. just the laser shorts. and i will get out of the shorts ASAP when i finish in marion and get a shower and wash really well.

YMMV.

I know of some folks who use Diaper ointment...especially a brand that I used to work for from a guy who goes by the name of Burt and he has some Bees...;)

40% zinc oxide is great for AFTER you get problems down there. or Bag Balm. Bag Balm heals me up really fast if i get a sore, but make sure you wear shorts or something you don't care about getting stained...

With a name like Queen Helene, how could you possibly go wrong...!

Queen Helene FTW. Stuff is cheap and works great - I'm a convert.
