Just wanted to say thanks to Brian and Karen for coming out and doing a 50 miler with me today. We started at my house and went to Benson, looped through Coats and returned back my my place.

Great day for a ride, the traffic was light and the weather was cool but not too cool.

Thanks, guys!

good ride today. i just didn't feel 100% today tho. guess you guys noticed that . my legs hurt all day and then my lower back started hurting about 30miles into the ride. hmm, still had a 17mph average...

Thanks for the fun ride. I started to die on the way home and finished up at 16.9 average and just under 54 miles. See you tomorrow.

Im going to look for ways to make that route longer.. maybe see if I can get it to go through Angier. I'd like to see if I can get it up to 65-70 miles. 50 miles is for wussy.

Jay: Sounds like you want to make this an "endurance ride". I know I need to work on my endurance. My body is getting used to 35 mile rides at 16mph but pushing it out further is what I need to start doing. The problem is I do not think I could sustain a 16mph average over 50 miles yet. Probably more like 15. If you were averaging 17, I would probably drop behind at this point. After 3 or 4 of such "endurance rides" I could perhaps keep up.

KarenG: An average of 17mph at 50+ miles -- I think that's very good!

I dont have a problem doing whatever speed. Im just in it for the riding. I can go out and hammer on my solo rides. Then I dont have anyone to cheat with and draft behind.

Been tinkering with the route some.. got it up to 92.1 miles, going through Benson, Coats, Angier and on the outskirts of Fuquay. It avoids almost all major roads except for a couple of short segments. Let me know when there are any takers :)

I have to help my MIL move next Tuesday. What about May 8th?

Im in for anytime. Just let me know. Most Ive ever ridden in one day is like 70some miles so it will be uncharted waters for me.

ummm...are you serious??? 92miles???

I can't do it on 5/1 cause I have the TT on 5/2. I might be able to ride on the 8th, not sure tho. And, the Orange County Speedway TT is on 5/17, so I can't do it that day either....I can't be sick or be takin' "Fluffy" to the vet every Tuesday . I'm sure I'll figure something out tho...

As it gets warmer tho, maybe some might be interested in doing the 50mi earlier in the day. I could "try" to go to work after lunch then...

We can discuss later.

You might as well make it an even century:) Was thinking I might be ready by say... October. What about October 13/14 weekend (I like to plan ahead)? There's a certain cycling event that I don' think most of us are planning on participating in that weekend. Plus it's my birthday that weekend:D - sick that I'd want to ride my bike 100 miles on my birthday???
