Anyone interested in doing a recovery ride out towards Clayton on Sunday? It'll be an "easy" 30-35 mile ride from my house or we could meet in downtown Clayton at the "park" that's on Main Street and across from O'Neil St. (I would say we could meet at the Coffee Mill, but the "other" group may be there and I would rather avoid conflicts).
Average speed will probably be under 17, possibly under 16.
Mostly no drop, if someone starts lagging back, we'll wait at turns.
Details
Location: My house (PM for directions)
Time: 3:30-4pm
Distance: 30-35 miles
Pace: 15 - 17 mph

I'm up for a ride, but that's a little late in the day for me. morning / earlier afternoon works better.

Yeah, what time? I'd be up for a slow (15-16) 45... since I need another 43 miles to have 300 for the month.

hey jon...i'll pm you with directions....i moved the time to 3:30-4pm cause our "leader" has a birthday party to go to and can't ride before that time.
we could probably do that many miles (43) but would have to be slower than 16/17.
if you or anyone else is interested in longer, i can make it longer, just let me know....
karen.
If everyone wants to ride earlier, dont feel inclined to wait on me :)

Forgot that there is a "Pool Party" at my complex from 4-7pm. today. I want to make an effort to meet and get to know some of my neighbors.
Im going to sit out today I think. Ive got a bit of a saddle sore that I dont want to aggrevate with RRR coming up on Sunday. My plans for this week are to ride the CSH Tuesday ride, an easy ride next Sat with the Cyclepaths and then RRR. That will probably be about it for me this week.
The 16-17MPH winds help in convicing me too.

alrighty, that's not a problem. i'm not feeling too good right now either, up quite late last night.
i guess i shouldn't do much either as i've got the 10mi TT at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Wednesday and my quads have been feeling a little tight all week. need to be fresh for that so maybe i can do at least as well at this one as i did at OCS.
i'll do the cyclepath ride next week too, but i'm not gonna be chasing anyone (mr. "easy ride with the cyclepaths" :p ). i have to be fresh for RRR so i can try to keep up with you know who :)
You can come ride the CSH Tuesday night ride. Its a faster ride but the pack is so big, its a pretty easy ride until Woods Creek then it breaks up into subgroups and some people hammer it and some people dont.

umm, not sure if i want to do a faster ride the day before my TT. i'll have to look at some posts over in the racing section of BF cause there have been some posts about what to do the day before....so, i'll be a "maybe" on that one.

Brian and I just got back from riding to the strawberry stand for ice cream:) - this was supposed to be an easy ride today, but the wind is wicked. My legs hurt more after 18 miles in the wind than they did after 51 miles yesterday.

I just got back from doing a 46 mile ride. Sure was breezy out there today - more than had been forecast!

For whatever reason I decided I needed more miles today, so out I went. First month this year that I will have ridden more than 300 miles, so feel good about that.

$7.00 a bucket!
If you pick your own - $9 if they pick for you - I'm that lazy...
By the way, nice avatar, reminding me of middle school (or was that high school?) - late '80s none the less...

So I had kind of a bizarre thing happen to me on my ride today. I did "quiet roads to Harnet county", and was at the service station that is the turnaround point (on hwy 42).
Nice asian couple pull up in a minivan (from the west), get out and ask me how far it is to capital boulevard (in Raleigh).

What did you tell them?

I sent them back the way they came to get back on US-1 northbound. Since they were searchng Harnett County trying to find North Raleigh when I met them, that seemed the safest option.

Jon, you know, you really can't or shouldn't have the Separatist Spokes & Slow Spokes on the same label/card together. Us Separatist Spokes don't have too many bike rides at sensible paces, ya know :D (or so we've been told).

Ah, but the Separatist Spokes are an elite subgroup of the Slow Spokes!
For anyone wanting the official Seperatist Spokes tshirt :)

I could put it on a cheaper tshirt.. I went with the soft tshirt but it was a few bucks more.

Actually, the Separatist Spokes are an elite group of Triangle Cycling that have members of Slow Spokes. The two groups are complete opposites of each other and really have nothing other than members in common.

Of course this is some very strange and dubious definition of the word 'elite'! :)

Probably closer to an obscured sense of reality, but it serves it's intended purpose none the less. ;)
