View Full Version : Tuesday Ride, Garner 2 Benson... AGAIN
This is a tentative ride as I havent gotten a 100% confirmation from Jon but he and I were talking about doing a 50-60 mile ride on Tuesday if anyone is interested. Start time TBD but most likely 11ish.
The 50 mile route is a nice route.. very desolate, minimal traffic, several rest stops. More than likely I'll figure out a way to add enough mileage on to make it a metric.
Anyone interested, feel free to join. Pace will be 16+.

have you seen the wind predictions for tuesday?? guess it could change between now & then, but it's supposed to be around 24mph (http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/allergies/tenday/27520?dp=windsdp)....
i'll pass this time - due to wind and i really need to work all week...
friday looks like the better day for a long ride if you want to do it that day. we could then use the cyclepath ride as our recovery ride instead of the usual hammerfest :D. just a thought...

If it is going to be that windy then I'm liking Karen's suggestion. We could still do the shorter CSH evening ride on Tues.
Looks like we're moving this ride to Friday if anyone wants to come with.

So it's Jay, Jon, Karen - anyone else?
Karen, I picked up the 'goods' from Zonda tonight at Lifetime Fitness. Goodies for Jay too.

Jay.. do you have a cue sheet for this ride for those of us that might like to do this route sometime but not at a 16mph pace?

well, it was a good ride, for the most part..
i haven't been feeling too good this week, wednesday & thursday, had some stomach issues and i think that took it's toll on me today. this is the second time on this route where i've felt bad and not done as well as i know i'm capable of.
i took in 15 endurolytes, and my shorts were still covered with salt when i finished. probably didn't take in enough fluid either tho, cause i'm down 5 pounds as well. my legs hurt like crap, it's really painful just to walk right now. had problems with cramping in my quads from benson till we got back to jay's house. any little bit of "effort" caused them to cramp.
this could be my sign to take a break from riding for a few days, especially since i've got the mountain ride coming up next weekend. so...i don't know if i'm gonna do the CP ride tomorrow - i just can't do a hammerfest after today. not even sure about the sunday ride either.

CP has lots of different paces. You can be sure that whatever pace you ride at, someone will be slower!
Important thing is to ride through it, you won't get better if you don't ride!

yea i know jon. but right now, it's just really painful to even get off the couch and walk. i'm just not sure about riding tomorrow and will have to make the decision in the morning whether i ride or not this weekend.
got my soul crushed today and i'm not feeling too great about it considering i know i'm a better rider than what i was today. just really makes me think i need some time off.

Ill put you something together. I need to figure out a place for you to be able to park since the ride usually originates at my house. Let me give it some thought and Ill put you a route together.
Here you go. This actually is a little different than what we rode today. It completely removes the stretch of Hwy 50 we have to ride on twice and the starting location is Dixon Rd Elementary School in Willow Springs.
I had to add a loop on to the end to get the mileage back up but Ive ridden all these roads and know they are real roads and not dirt paths. This is a superb route with 3 rest stop opportunities (Benson, Coats and Angier) and parking should be a breeze at the elementary school. With the Hwy 50 leg removed, the only place you will encouter anything that wouldn't be considered light traffic is the short stretch down Hwy 27.

I would be interested in doing this sometime at a slower pace. We can always start from my house though it would add a few miles unless we adjusted the route. I live 6.5 miles from Jay but I don't believe this particular route passes my house. There is a 34 mile route we did a few weeks ago that does pass my house and it's a good ride too. Brian and I are interested in riding Sunday mornings or afternoons (depending on my work schedule that week).

Hit the hot tub and steam room while we were there, should be ready to go in the morning!
