View Full Version : Saturday Shop Rides/RSVPing for Rides - Please Read

1. It was nice riding today with little traffic and we had twice as many riders. I think it would be a good idea to change the Saturday shop rides to Sunday. What do you think? What is your preference?
2. Also requesting that everyone who wants to ride in a group on the rides I organize to please RSVP. We had 21 riders today, 8 of those new to group and needing to sign waivers, 4 had RSVP'd with a route choice. It was too hectic trying to get waivers signed, discuss route choices/skills to make sure everyone was put in the correct group, get myself ready to ride and organize riding groups for the other 13 riders. If you RSVP, there are things I can do in advance to make things run smoother at the ride start. Please help me out with this.
To RSVP, reply to the ride announcement thread and let me know you want to ride and list your distance/pace preference.
3. Also, please print a cue sheet to bring to the rides. I will bring one extra for each route for anyone who forgets theirs, but you should bring one with you to the ride.
Thanks

I liked the Sunday ride much better than the saturday ride. I think I vote for the change to Sunday that also gives you a sleep in day on saturday and being able to get things done at home

Also it is nice early Sunday if we end up around Jordan Lake area the boat traffic is not running yet. Zonda, you are the best gang leader. It was a great ride and fun like always.

Sounds like a good idea traffic wise, however, it would conflict with my church and family activities, so I will have to decline.

I would like to join the Sunday ride should you change to Sunday. I can't ride every Sunday but, I can most Sundays. By far its my favorite time to ride as traffic is light and the temperature is generally very pleasant. Can this "waiver" be signed on-line somewhere or, does it need to be siged prior to riding?

Zonda,
My Honey-Do list is too long. I'll miss the Monday ride. Awesome ride today. Thanks.

Sunday would be nice, since it could be a recovery ride for the CP ride on Saturday...

Sunday was great. Hardly any traffic. Brian and I vote for Sunday in Cary.
Sunday rides do not work for me because of church activities. Granted I've only made it to one Saturday ride this spring, but Saturday is the better day for me.

I'm a newbie, but have really enjoyed my 2 rides with you.
If I get a vote, I'd prefer Sunday rides over Saturday.

The only copy I have is within a 5 page pdf document from the League of American Bicyclists. However, it's time to get it online. We only need one on file each year for each rider. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm going to hold off posting the shop ride announcement until we get more comments on the choice for Sat. or Sunday, but it looks like we will move them to Sunday.

I would much rather ride on Sunday versus Saturday.
My reasons are:
1 - less traffic on Sunday
2 - If I work a weekend I can get a ride in if it's on Sunday
3 - My husband, Jamie, and friend, Kathy, are really excited about Sunday rides.
Thanks, Suzanne

Zonda,
I know I haven't made very many weekend rides, but I would prefer Sunday. Less traffic, Saturdays are crazy.... Thanks Zonda for all you do, that cannot be said enough!!!!
Rebekah
Zonda,
Sunday works best for me too.

Sunday would work for me. That way, I have an option of Team GSK ride on Saturday or Slow Spokes ride on Sunday. I cannot do both, and some weeks I cannot do either, but having an option on both days is good for me.
This weekend, for example, I definitely cannot ride on Saturday. Depending on how much work I get done on Saturday, there is a possibility I could ride on Sunday.

Thanks for the compliments.
I continue to under estimate the growth and success of this group, which has resulted in me spending a lot more time to keep things organized and running smoothly. We have a few new lieutenants who were kind enough to step up to help out. Thanks to everyone who volunteers their time to help keep the group in tact, keep evolving to meet the needs of riders and provide a supportive environment for new cyclists and cyclists who want to ride less than A/B pace. ;)
I will post the ride announcement Thursday and leave this open for further comments, but it looks like moving to Sunday works better for most people. I'm glad Jay, Karen, Jon T. & company will be available to ride, but I'm sorry we will lose some riders. Charley, I'm sorry to lose you as Master Lieutenant for our slow group.:(

I want someone to shoot a picture of me for an avatar when I'm tucked in, death grip on the aero bars, stealy eyes barely visible below my hat visor, determined grimmice on my face. I'll label it "Lt. Tank Driver".

I am a regular church attender on Sunday AM so cannot attend Sunday and would like to continue to ride on Sat 8am.
Will these rides continue? If so, I am in for this Sat for 30 mile ride at approx 16-17 pace.
Thanks, Rob

consider coming out for the Cyclepaths ride. It is out in the country, so a much better option for a Saturday ride.

Sorry Rob. The majority of our folks wanted to change to Sunday. Since we have a lot of new riders, Sunday is a better option for safety reasons.
Check the Rides/Meetups section occasionally to see if anyone posts a pickup ride on a Saturday. Anyone can post a pickup for any day of the week.
Also, check our calender for local MS-150 training rides. Many of the rides are posted on the calendar.
The MSing Links have a ride this Sat. . See below. Contact Jon Lehnert (http://www.trianglecycling.com/jal04@embarqmail.com) for more information.
Saturday - Lowes Food in Apex --,... (Hwy 55 & Olive Chapel Rd) ,.... 45 miles,...15-17 pace no drop
