Hello Fellow Cyclists!
Don’t forget the Registration deadlines! July 15th the cost goes up and registration closes on Aug. 1st. You don’t want to miss out on this great ride!
The Carolina Tarwheels Bicycle Club announces the 12th Annual Bikefest Rural Heritage Tour on Saturday, August 11th in Hillsborough, NC. This fully supported ride offers route options of 20/31/62/100 miles with SAG support and rest stops stocked with our famous homemade cookies and breads. If you have not done the new century route, you should! It goes into Leasburg and is a beautiful and quiet route with two additional rest stops just for the century riders.
There will be no on-site registration on the day of the event. You must pre-register on-line -- between now and August 1st (or until we have 850 registrants). The charge is only $20 if paid on or before July 15th. After July 15th the charge is $25. To register or to find out more detailed information go to http://www.tarwheels.org/bikefest/
Again this year, we are offering a new, original T-shirt design by one of our artistic members and the shirts will be made of the same moisture wicking material as last year. The t-shirts are only $12 but must be ordered before July 15th.
We are proud of our Bikefest Tour and believe it is one of the most enjoyable one day bicycling events in this part of the country. Come join us!

New to the forum, but I'll be doing the 62-mile route. This will be my 4th year (although my first one was actually a "makeup" ride that the Tarwheels hosted when the actual date got flooded out by a hurricane).
It's a nice ride, but a little tricky. The first 45 miles or so are fairly flat and lull you into thinking it's going to be an easy ride... After that, the hills can kick your hindparts!

Welcome to the group!
Thanks! Nice place you've got here! :)
Just to wrap up, we had an awesome day for the Bikefest, and it was well-organized as always. As far as I could tell, the 62-mile route was the same as in previous years. We kept thinking it might rain at some point, but it held off until I got home.
