Maynard has alot of construction after you turn off of High House, road widening. Tour de Cure went that way this weekend. There was a detour through the neighborhoods to get around it, Medlin to Green(something) to another road, I can't remember. Just wanted to let you know, if you didn't already.

We went by their house on the way back to The Spin Cycle on Sunday.

Suzanne rides an average of 13mph, BUT she will go as slow as 7mph on the hills. If you use an easier gear and pedal faster, the hills will not slow you down as much. ;) On Sunday, I told Jamie not to use the large chainring at all, and he kept up with Kathy and me pretty well.
I will have to wait until later in the week to let you know if I can make the ride. At this point it is 50/50 at best that I will be able to ride on both Saturday and Sunday. For some reason, my wife thinks I should have a life in addition to my cycling:)

Rick, presumably you've already suggested the obvious solution? Buy her a bike!

Rick, presumably you've already suggested the obvious solution? Buy her a bike! She has a bike, but she will only ride it on the trainer. She spends more hours in the saddle than I do, but she doesn't go anywhere. I cannot get her on the road at all. On very rare occassions, when it is not too hot and not too cold, she will ride on the American Tobacco Trail, but that is as far as she will go outside.

I amesome you have asked he why. maybe she is like one of my friend wives she can't go as fast as he can and does not want to be left and the traffic gwt to her. She only does the spinning and the trail also. She has a 5,000 doller bike that sits on a trainer and has seen the ground 3 times, he is hoping to get her out with this group sometime

When we first got our bikes, she could go faster than I could, and she probably can still go at a reasonable pace for the SlowSpokes; however, she is afraid of traffic, steep hills, and heat.
I grew up in the city and was dodging traffic on my bicycle all of my life. Kathie grew up in a small town in the Appalachian Mountains where there was no traffic but the hills were too steep to ride a bicycle, especially when the only bicycles available were the old Schwinns with balloon tires, coaster brakes, and one speed.
The other problem is that her Scandinavian genes did not prepare her for the heat and humidity of the Southeastern US. Her mother never did adjust to the weather in Eastern Kentucky, which I found to be very pleasant.

Jamie and I just created the cue sheet for the ride on Sunday. I think I've attached it to this post. If not I will have to create another post with the cue sheet in it. :p
thanks, Suzanne

The cue sheet post worked. Unfortunately, I will not be able to join you on Sunday. You live less than 2 miles from my house, and it would have been easy for me to ride to your house for the start. Kathie has other plans for me, though. Have fun. It looks like a good route.

Hey Suzanne... I'm going to say that I won't be riding tomorrow morning...hubby has come up with a whole list of things that don't include riding....so don't expect me. But if it turns out I can make it, I'll be there 5 minutes before departure. Hope you have a great ride!
BTW....have you done the three lakes loop? while not long on miles, it does have some great hills to train on. And since the MS150 will be fighting head winds, I hear it's just like going up hill both directions. The hills in McGregor Downs helped me tremendously in preparing for the Tour De Cure. If you want to do that on a weeknight, it's just 8-10 miles....I'll be happy to join in. We could even go around twice if we have daylight. (and legs) The heat seems to dissapate some at 700pm...so there's plenty of time. Just give me a yell...
