or similar action.
I did not know Emily & do not know her husband, and I'm a bit late. But:

Wow - that is awful, I can't even imagine and I don't want to even try. I found the original story on News 14 http://news14.com/Default.aspx?ArID=584137. Can't find anything else though - seems like they should follow up, maybe that would help make everyone out there, both drivers and cyclists, aware of what can really happen.

I just met Andy last thursday at All Star. He told me all about Tandems.
He has our deepest sympathy.

The accident site is just down the street from my house and I see the markings on the pavement everyday. I had heard that a cyclist had been hit there, but had heard no more about it. Thanks for the updatae skiffrun. It saddens me to know she passed away. But its a good reminder for all of us to always expect the unpredictible from cars and other cyclists.

I briefly met Andy at All Star too and left thinking "what a genuinely nice guy". My thoughts are with him in this time of loss!

The life celebration service for Emily is sometime Monday (tomorrow). Scott and I are asking around to find out what time and where it is.
Andy and Emily are members of NC Bike Club and GRITS.
At a previous job, my bike commute went right along where Emily was hit.

Monday, July 9 at 6pm, NC Art Museum grounds.
----------- begin quote from road dogs google group ------------------
A get together of Emily's friends will take place on Monday, 7/9, on the NCMA grounds, at 6:00pm. As some of you know a bike path was laid out, across the fields behind the museum. We will collect along that and spend a little time with Emily, together. Some words will be said by a few people. But I tend to feel that it is with our collectiveness that we gain most.
This is going to be a pretty casual event. Don't dress up. You who have met me before know that I'll be in my uniform tee shirt and shorts. Don't make me feel odd! Because...
Emily could tell you better but every party needs a theme so hers is the color of red. I say it in this way to encourage your interpolation of what that is, So let's wear some item that has some kind of red, the wilder the better, what ever the shade or print. If my kilt (from my dad) was red I'd wear it (And if it still fit me) (Joke). So throw on an old tee shirt or slip into those neon running shorts. Ladies any bright hats? Men don't stop at the tie.
For the non area people Judith and I (well mostly her) will host a Cleveland gathering. At this point maybe in 2 or 3 weeks. I'll post the info as soon as I know it.

I attended the service this afternoon after work and it was very, very nice. If I had to guess, I'd say that there was a couple hundred people there. I saw many familiar faces there too. Although I never met Emily, I felt the need to go and express my condolences. Listening to the many kinds words being spoken it was clear that she touched many peoples lives. As part of the service a beautiful red maple tree was planted in her honor on the opposite side of the pond . The next time any slow spokes ride through that part of the greenway, take a sec to stop and relax in it's shade.
