"Some guys that jumped ship" sounds like a fair description to me --
admittedly they did so by selling off a wholly owned family business,
rather than by turning in their resignations, but still.

To me "Jumped ship" has a bad connotation, like rats leaving a sinking
ship. The Lynsky's created Litespeed, sold it and now are creating a
new business while Litespeed continues. Sounds like they are building
ships, not "jumping ship"
