Apex, NC 27539
$25 Half the proceeds are going to the Middle Creek High School Band and half to the National MS Society
Preregistration by August 14 is appreciated, but they will accept registrations on the day of the event. I have attached the registration form to this post.
I participated in this ride last year. It was very well organized and well attended. There are three rest stops, SAG support, and lunch at the end of the ride is included.
I have not seen the cue sheets for this year's ride, and I do not know if they are using the same routes as last year. Last year the 30 and 65 mile routes included Smile Hill.
I plan to participate again this year. I can be talked into either the 30 or 65 mile routes.

Very tempting...I was a band geek in High School:cool: so I would love to support MS and a band. I'll check my calendar.

The cue sheets will be finalized next week. I’ll post them when I get them.

Here are the cue sheets.
According to the ride organizer, Helena, the 62-mile route is closer to 67 miles. She planned to reduce it, but ran into problems keeping the rest stops in place. She said the 31 mile route should be fine. She didn't send the 10-mile route.
Registration form attached.

Welcome to our group!
Do you think you can handle the heat down here? It will be much hotter than NH!!
I'm not doing this ride, but we should have a few riders participating. What is your riding pace?

I'd like to do this ride - 30 or 65. Also doing the Jimmy V ride on Sunday, so I can get some back-to-back miles in.
I am registering for this ride. I'd like to do the 65 mile route.

Until the first rest stop (16.4 miles), both routes are the same. I would like to do the 65, but I need to be finished by 1:00. If we keep up at least a 15 mph pace and do not stop more than 15 minutes at each rest stop, we would finish by 1:00. That will work for me.
I will bring both cue sheets and make my final decision as to which route I ride at the first rest stop.

It was a great ride; very well organized, well marked, and plenty of food at the rest stops and at the finish. One nice touch was that as we pulled in at the finish, they handed every rider a wash cloth soaked in ice water. I needed that. The 62 mile route was a little longer than advertised. Jim H and I both measured it at 69.2 miles. We got to go up Smile Hill near the start and down Smile Hill on the return. We also got to go up the long hill on Old Holly Springs Road. The long flat stretch on NC 42 from Duncan to Sanford was really nice.
I ended up riding with Jim H. Our stats were:
Distance - 69.2 miles
Pace - 15.9 mph
Time - 4:21

We gave those out at the Cider Mill ride in Kansas last weekend. I thought it was a nice touch.

Well, had a fun ride with you guys today. Was worth coming down from NH for this ride ;) Started off with some faster riders but thought the pace we were pushing was somewhat unreasonable for 67 miles. Met up with some triathletes until rest stop 2 and then went off solo to finish the ride. When I was supposed to have turned left onto Old US-1 for some reason I actually turned right, went 10 miles before I realized I took the wrong turn, turned around, and headed in the right direction where I eventually started seeing some other riders and some green arrows. Overall it was a great ride and great to see the area, very hot to me and I think I went through about 8 bottles of water/gatorade which is a heck of a lot for me, about 1 bottle every 12 miles.
Distance: 85.25mi
Ride Time: 5hrs almost on the dot
Pace: 17.05mph
Thanks for the great ride guys!

As far as water goes, the rule of thumb down here is one bottle every 30 minutes or every 10 miles.
At least the humidity was low yesterday.

It was a good ride and a bit longer - I did not order up the wind for second half of the ride. A few times going down Pea Ridge I thought I was going to blown over. I was glad to be done also. Elaine and Boyd
