Instead of trying to clean up a tour that is more political than sporting, surely it is time to run a series of tours and classic rides somewher else other than in Europe. The Tour de France has been tainted by the mamagement for years now, and every body knows it. Ever noticed how the riders that are not french are hounded and dishonoured long before any proof is presented. Any french rider is ignored. You can go back years and all the riders who admit to doping who are french have never even had the idea of removing their names from the records floated, notice what happens when the rider is not french???
Time I feel that a completely new set up well away from officials who allow "Leaks" of test results to be sent (without punishment) to French newspapers?? Now why was the tour started in the first place, why to increase the circulation of a french newspaper!!!! From 1903 the tour has had cheats, from staples on the road to taking train rides, the french have never had a "clean tour" It never will, so throw the whole thing away and start a similar tour/classic day rides in another country and leave the french to a tour of their own.
At least we would start with a level playing field.
Just my opinion on the tour at the moment.

No, there is no level playing field.
First, there's genetics - you have it or you don't.
After that selection, there are those who like riding bikes fast and those
who don't.
After that selection, there are those who like competing and winning, and
those who don't.
After that selection, there are those who want to use these criteria to earn
a living, and there are those who don't.
Then comes biorhythms, rain, geography, family (or those who don't).

You thought cycling and any other Professional Sport is egalitarian?
Good. Then we all won the Tour this year. Don't bother watching the end.
