View Full Version : Who makes shoes for narrow feet?

I have a pair of Sidi Genius 5 narrow shoes. They are an improvement
for me over Sidi's standard width shoes.

I've been wondering whether there are any other choices out there. Sidi
doesn't appear to offer narrow shoes in their lower or higher priced
lines, only the mid-priced Genius 5 line. I haven't seen that other
manufacturers are offering shoes for those with narrow feet like mine.

Does anyone have experience with custom made road shoes?

Nope, but a buddy of mine with narrow tootsies likes DMT.

I find that Adidas shoes fit my size 13, B-width feet pretty well.
There's a variety of styles and prices available through Nashbar.

The lower end SiDi shoes are not made in Italy and fit very differently
from the superb Genius series.

Models above Genius have a steep price curve for mostly aesthetic
improvements, hence, the Genius remains their highest volume product
where wider options can be best supported.

Sorry, no recent experience with custom. What is lacking in your Genius?

Practical application, that would make me LOTS of money! (j/k)

The shoes are an improvement, but I have trouble with irritation of the
second joint of my second toe, which has caused corns on both feet. The
narrower shoe seems to bother me less, but after a long campaign, I have
just about gotten rid of the corns and surrounding callous tissue, and
I'd like to be able to ride without sticking pads on those toes every
day. (I'll have to see if the problem continues with the narrow shoes,
now that I'm almost back to "normal".)

Very useful info -- thanks.

I wear A and sometimes AA width in dress shoes, but a cycling shoe that
fits a B width foot is an improvement over most, I think. What model do
you wear?

A few years ago, one of my riding buddies heard that the owner of a LBS
in So Cal and his wife had narrow feet, and so they were always on the
lookout for shoes that fit. At the time, they recommended Diadora
shoes. Later, they recommended Sidi.

I love the Specialized shoes, but have to get the highest end models
because with them you can adjust the whole closure assembly to be more
narrow or more wide.

Could you find out which model he likes?

I looked at diamantdmt.com, and the Ultimax RSX White Red Road Shoe
seems like a possibility. For one thing, it offers a choice of two
mounting positions for the micro-closure buckle (presumably one for
wider, one for narrower, feet). They also talk about there being no
seams inside to irritate the toes.

Checking my Sidi shoes, the standard width Genius I used to wear do seem
to have a seam for the mesh inserts running down the center of the toe
box. I don't feel that in the newer narrow width shoes.

I use the "Gran Corsico" model for most of my riding since I use SPD
pedals almost exclusively:
http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?sku=16129 . Not, strictly speaking,
a "road" shoe, but it works well for my kind of riding. I'd presume
that the dedicated road shoe would fit the same, but that's an
unproven assumption.
