Join Team GSK for an official MS 150 training ride two weekends before the big one! The ride is followed by a cookout featuring that post-ride meal of champions: hot dogs, veggie dogs, and brats. Details:

Saturday, 8/25/2007
Registration 7:30-8:30
Ride start 8:30

Distance: 37 miles. A 50-ish route is being planned and will probably be added. Fully supported with rest stop and SAG vehicles.

Location: (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=wilson+park&near=Carrboro,+NC&fb=1&view=text&latlng=35918974,-79077219,14138768968834885215)
Charles Herman Wilson Park, Carrboro

The ride is a beautiful route through Orange County, with the traditional rolling hills (they don't call them Chapel Hill and Hillsborough for nothing!).

Cost (all money to benefit the National MS Society):
$25 ride and cookout
$20 ride only
$10 cookout only - bring your family!

Preregister by sending an email:
dogdayevent@yahoo.com (ride + cookout - please tell us if you're a vegetarian)
dogdaysrideonly@yahoo.com (ride only)

Bring cash or check made out to NMSS on the day of the ride. You can also show up and register on the day, but we really appreciate preregistrations.

Y'all come! We had about 60 riders at the inaugural Dog Days ride last year, and we got lots of great feedback. We're hoping to double our numbers this year.

Please send me a private message with any questions.

Kathy, Have the decided to do a 50 mile route for sure. We would like to come to this one and do the cook out afterwards if the miles are there. Let us know. Thank you . Elaine and Boyd

Elaine,

I am not Kathy ;) , but I did receive confirmation that there indeed will be a 50 mile route and a 35 mile route. I plan to do the 50.

Yes, I can confirm that there will be a 50. See you at a rest stop (I'm working, not riding).

We will be there - hey Rick the whole picture of you gave it away that you are not Kathy. Or she needs a better glamour shot worker.

Great ride - thanks for telling us. Of course the extra 10 miles or so from getting lost in the heat made it special. We love it out there so much next Sat. we are going to drive to the park and ride some more.

It is a civilized place to ride. No one shouted insults at us, sprayed us with anything, tried to run us off the road, or threw things at us. Only two dogs chased me, but neither of them persisted or ran in front of me. The roads are nice, too. There were enough hills to make it interesting, but none so severe that I had to use the granny gear. Other than Morrow Mill Road, most of the pavement was in good shape. I guess we needed Morrow Mill Road to prepare us for Honolulu Road (SR 1485) on the second day of the MS 150. Pave would be smoother than that road.
