Okay, so no amazing results, but Danny Pate was 7th in the final stage ITT (the team was 6/18 for this stage), and the team finished 8 of its 9 riders.

Impressive result, I'd say.

Team GC was 16/18, with top finisher Jonathan McCarty, in 65th.

They'll have to get on the program.

They're working on it. Their next signing will be on the podium of
this year's Vuelta.

Can you prove they're not already?

Yeah, I think Backstedt can do it too.

**** Backstedt. I think slipstream will do great things in 2008, but
it won't be the tired old bastards like magnus. at least i hope
not.

vaughters has to realize that he's only getting a year--maybe two--out
of the old farts he's signed and that the results of his young guns
will matter more for the future than anything else. get Pate a couple
of big wins in early 2008 ... that'll get it going.

Dude, Maggie is the hero of Fattie Masters everywhere... He's
there to get them to show up and watch boring criteriums. It's
like Beckham, he's washed up so go to the USA and cash in while
you can.

Cycling needs the equivalent of the DH in baseball, something for
guys past their prime with name recognition to do for a few minutes a
day. Maybe if you made crit's into a kind of "team madison"...
Let the young guns hammer for the first hour and then put the
"big names" in for the sprint. Wouldn't you like to see Mario
duking it out on your local crit?

To me what would be much more interesting is if USA cycling could
take off and be independent of the Pro Tour. It could happen, I
mean NASCAR is now our national sport and it's the one thing I
can thing of that's even more boring than watching a criterium.
