Yup. Bikesnob nailed it, again. Personally, I can't wait to pull one
of those dream bikes out of a dumpster, and then really put it thru
its paces. Who knows, maybe convert it to a 650B fixed-gear porter
bike.
BTW, this is a record week for dumpster divers everywhere. See:
VIENNA (Reuters) - An 800-year-old, gold-plated crucifix that went
missing after being seized by the Nazis has been found in a rubbish
skip in Austria, police said. .......

Dear Andrew,
Your posts take different paths to reach nirvana.
Someone in this path may be goofing the URL for Yellow Jersey and
joining it to your last name:
border1.nntp.dca.giganews.com!nntp.giganews.com!po stnews.google.com!news2.google.com!news.glorb.com! sn-xt-sjc-05!sn-xt-sjc-01!sn-post-sjc-01!supernews.com!corp.supernews.com!not-for-mail
You might try putting <www.yellowjersey.org> in <brackets>, putting a
space or two in front of www.yellowjersey.org, or putting a blank line
above the www.yellowjersey.org.
Cheers,
Carl Fogel

I always see 3 lines.

Dear Greg,
I see two in Andrew's example, getting the post from the Comcast
server with Forte Free Agent.
Same thing if you look at the thread through Google Groups with
Explorer or Firefox--three lines in the original post, but only two in
when it's quoted in later posts:
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.bicycles.tech/browse_frm/thread/68f14a23fec319f9/a115812e7d131dd3#a115812e7d131dd3
Looking at other posts, the same pattern seems to follow--originals
have three lines, quotation turns them into two lines.
I've noticed a similar pattern in my posts. I skip a line before
URL's, as above with the long one and like this short one:
http://i18.tinypic.com/6baor3k.jpg
In a moment, I'll reply to this post as see if the URL's lose their
preceding blank line. If so, then this should illustrate the bug by
joining Andrew's last name to the URL on the next line:
Muzi
http://i18.tinypic.com/6baor3k.jpg

Aha! Replying through Google Groups provokes the bug.
Note how the two-line Muzi<cr>http://i18.tinypic.com/6baor3k.jpg above
has been joined as Muzihttp://i18.tinypic.com/6baor3k.jpg.
Apparently when Google quotes, a bug strips out a <CR> preceding a
URL.
So let's see if anything easy fixes the problem.
This will end up joined when quoted by Google:
Muzi
www.yellowjersey.org
A space might fix it:
Muzi
www.yellowjersey.org
Or brackets:
Muzi
<www.yellowjersey.org>
Now I'll post this, then scurry over to Google, reply, and so on.

KILL IT! The Oury grips just make it painful. Might work for a

Yes, a leading space or brackets around the URL stops the Google quote
bug from joining a URL to the preceding line.

It's a funny bike. (Literally so named; a TT bike from
the early 90s or so with a small front wheel and that
goofy top tube.) Nobody wants these for road bikes
anymore, so if you're going to ride one, there's no
point trying to make it into a sober-sided basic
black road machine. Might as well work what you got:
make it a fixed gear and give it a color scheme
straight from the Preppie Handbook.
I respect purity of vision. Or at least, that's my
excuse for buying a yellow Concor saddle for my
what-were-they-thinking 80s purple and yellow Dave Moulton:

Very very cool.
Congrats Peter on reaching your new rank, "The Iconic Peter Chisholm"
(I always wanted to be an archetype. if I grow up.)

Love it:
"the Three Commandments of Fixed Gear Riding: 1) Thou Shalt Have Thine
Keys Exposed At All Times; 2) Thou Shalt Not Tape Thine Bars; and 3) A
Helmet's Okay, But A Brake Is Gay."
Damn, I break all 3 commandments. No keys, I have bar tape, and I have
brakes, both of them!

Oh, my ****ing God. Mrazek started it all and I always puked when I saw
one of their mtn bikes on the trail. I seen they still have 10
customers a year like they did in 1991.
I mean, come on, it's not that big of a deal to have an upward curving
top tube on a road bike but on a mtn bike? How ****ing stupid can you
get?!?

In my case, stupid enough to consider the road bike's lines attractive.
