Rental car -- and bikes!

DH and I are going out of town and plan to do some mountain biking. We will be renting to bikes and some sort of vehicle. Would two mountain bikes fit into the back of a Trailblazer? A minivan? I suspect that we can't ditch the seats in either case.

Two hybrids fit nicely in the back of a Honda CRV if the back seats are folded up and the front wheels are taken off the bikes.

+1 for the Dodge Caravan / Chrysler Town & Country. The stow away seats make it really easy, and you don't have to worry about taking wheels off or anything.

I would definitely recommend a minivan over an SUV. There tends to be more height to the passenger space so you can keep bikes upright instead of laying them flat.
