Traffic around Harris Lake

There have been some postings about lack of traffic around Harris Lake, and I was wondering if anyone has biked around there during the week and can speak to whether the weekday traffic is as minimal. (Maybe not around quitting time at the plant). Also, can one park at the visitor center at SH just to ride?

I think you may need permission to park there. I know David gets permission for the NCBC summer rally, but that's a large group. Rebekah got permission to lead a ride from there in August.

You could also park at Harris Lake County Park, which is right down the street.

Between Harris Lake Park and the Visitor Center there is a blind curve on a hill on which I was almost sidewsiped by two speeding vehicles in quick succession. I would like to avoid this if at all possible.
