Sorry for the delay. Apparently I have been having trouble posting to the listserv. So, Wendy will post this for me, if it doesn't go through this time.
Congratulations to all!! We managed to take the team fundraising title for the thrid year in a row!! Our final total was $98,809. GSK finished 2nd at around $87,000 and Team Hibernian at around $77,000.
The Cyclepaths were also one of 5 Team Possible teams that raised $10 for each person living with MS in the Chapter area. Good job!
Here are the overall numbers:
1851 riders
$1,445,546 raised, a 26% increase over last year. Outstanding work by all of the riders from all of the teams!! See? Everybody wins!
The Cyclepaths also won individual honors with Tom Andrews being the 5th highest individual total at $13,155 and Jenny Bradley in 10th place at $7,986. Both will go to the Tour of Champions in California in a few months for having raised at least $7,500!! Congratulations to Tom and Jenny! Additional congratulations to Tom and Jenny for serving on the MS Bike Tour steering committee. Your service is appreciated.
Along with Tom and Jenny, Dave Holmes and Lynn Burleson were Mission Possible fundraisers for having raised at least $4,000 ($1 for each person with MS in the Chapter area). Congratulations.
Overall, it was inspiring to see how many new small and mid-sized teams have been added to the Tour. And a word of warning, Team Hibernian has made it clear they are gunning for us next year. So, be prepared to kick it up a notch. Our total was down a bit this year as a team for a variety of reasons, but I know we have it in us to regain our upward momentum.
The team leadership will be meeting in the next month to begin laying the groundwork for next year. Please feel free to e-mail us with your ideas for how to raise more money, how to make the team better, etc.
Thank you to Logan for serving as our treasurer. Thank you to Esther for running our website. Thank you to Wendy Sarratt for keeping the listserv going. Thank you to Lynn and Jenny for keeping me on the straight and narrow and for all of their ideas. Thank you to new daddy Matt for overseeing the SAG driver schedule. Thank you to Captain Dave for constantly updating and maintaining our routes and for making sure cue sheets were available, even for those like me who sometimes forgot to use the Print feature on our own. Thank you to Kimberly for handling jersey ordering for us, again.
There are many others who did things here and there that make our team "happen". I know that I have left somebody out. All I can say is thank you so very much.
Congratulations to you all for all of your hard work in making things come together in a challenging year.
Sincerely,
Gaines Weaver
