Hi,
I have an old bike (40 yrs) which used to have a cups bottom bracket but
now has a sealed unit. I'm going to fit the tiagra tripple hollowtech 2
chainset and bearings and don't know if I really need to get the BB shell
faced. Surely the cup type bottom brackets would have required carefully
faced BB shells ? Is it worth just trying to fit the bearings and chainset
or should I take it to the shop when I take sealed unit out ?

Thanks in advance,

Bruce.

Hi Bruce,
Should be ok to just fit if you have had no problems in the past but i
am a bit worried about a 40yr old frame they dont last forever you
know, some years back i had a steel (531c) frame snap, rusted through
internally r/h seatstay just above the dropout. Take care
