Are there any UCI legal drugs for Exercise Induced Asthma?

The doctor recommendations seem to be albuterol or salbutamol, both
of which apparantly need a medical waiver.

What do low ranked non-pro racers do?

Take something that you know would make you test positive, or attempt to
try and get a waiver even though you know that there is like one chance
in a million that anyone would ever test a cat 4 race?

Thanks...

I assume you mean WADA-legal, since Cat. 4's aren't governed by the UCI.

But I got some good news for you: You don't have asthma. Believe it or
not, the definition of clinical asthma isn't that your lungs burn when
you're going up a 15% climb in the lead break with 200 showing on your
Polar.

Is that you, Allesandro?

Well, the TUE process isn't hard. You request a form from your national
federation (it's probably online), take a copy to your doctor, get him
to fill it out, and send it in to the federation. You have to see the
doctor for the 'script, right?

http://www.wada-ama.org/rtecontent/document/TUE_ENG_QA.pdf

More importantly, salbutamol is on the "Abbreviated TUE" list:

http://www.uci.ch/imgArchive/Rules/14ant-E.pdf

(page 11)

47. The Prohibited Substances or Prohibited Methods which may be
permitted by this abbreviated process are strictly limited to the
following: beta-2 agonists (formoterol, salbutamol, salmeterol and
terbutaline) by inhalation and glucocorticosteroids by non-systemic
routes.

48. Approval for Use of one of the Prohibited Substances referred to in
article 47 is effective upon receipt of a complete notification by the
UCI.

Check with (email) your national federation for details, but seems to
say all you need to do is send in the form, and approval is automatic.

Salbutamol and Albuterol are two names for the same thing:

Take what they need to take and not worry about it.
Salbutamol is not going to figure in the results
of any low level race. Unless it means you can
finish the race, then it does I suppose.

If by some ultimate retard chance a Cat 4 ever did get busted for not
registering something like albuterol use, ... well then, what the
hell? Take your suspension and consider that you saved yourself a lot
of time and money during your suspension. It would hurt the poor sap
promoters, who are out your entry fees, more than it ever would a
rider.

Don't worry about crap like this. You should instead focus your
energy on being a proper jock-sniffing voter. Election season is
coming, you know.

I think the new fad will be for all lower category riders to have
their own medical exception. It goes along with having a coach and
that international license just in case you might need it.

Oh, I'm working on my metaphors.

Hill's panties. That is one of the "benefits" of being a democrat.
