Vanuatu? Seems like you could have done with a bike that fits fatter
tires. At least it appears relatively rust resistant.

If I lived on a tropical island, I'd probably get a Surly Pugsley, so
I could ride off-road and on the beach as well as on the limited
amount of available pavement. What could possibly be the hurry
anyway?

You did a great job, that bike has a very classy/classic look. Wheels
too. I don't see why you would nee to change a thing.

Same bicycle concept (road bike w/ straight bar), slightly different
execution:

I like to hack together something different every few months from throw
away parts. Newly bought bits on this are bar-ends and cheap Schwalbe
tyres ;)

(rims were almost new, but not quite)

Nice job, but...
A 1050 grams frame and you end up with a 8.1 kg bike? You made weight
savings on strange parts.
Why did you mount the Garmin on the top tube? That's an odd place
considering that it will be covered most times with your upper body.
Please get rid of the sticker on the seatstays. It ruins the clean look
of the frame.
