Katie Compton pedaled her bike on rollers while watching TV in her
living room on a recent snowy afternoon. It was too icy for a three-
hour training ride. Instead, she was studying footage of past races,
looking for weaknesses in her competitors.

From all that I've read about her and all that I've seen in her
performances in CO this year, I have to say that Katie C. is the
consumate professional. I mean, who else romps out to an early lead
and then does a bike change every lap just for the sake of practice
and to allow for trying varying air pressures under race conditions???

I certainly hope she has the luck necessary to let her talent and
preparation show through at Cross Worlds. If things work out well,
the rest will be fighting for second.

Kentucky Fried Chicken won't win worlds - you watch. Way too much hype
about her. Cyclo-cross is a sport with litle depth of field, so it's
easy to rise to the top.

Bessette was kicking her ass this year.

Kupfernagel will win cross worlds. Again.

Thanks,

Magilla

Katie Compton was present but didn't start in Hoogerheide due to health
reasons. The runner-up at the World Championships 2007 indicated she is
suffering a muscular problem and is in serious doubts about her chances
for Treviso.
