Mr. Sherman is as one with Pol Pot and other communist indoctrinated
despots. Yea, let everyone labor for the benefit of the whole, even if it is
only those at the top (the rulers) who reap most of the benefits. What does
it matter if millions are murdered in a good cause! Mr. Sherman will preside
over the "killing fields".

But the Great Ed Dolan likes hard labor. He can sit around and watch others
do it all day long. And if they suffer ... well, that is part of the hard
labor, is it not? What is truly despicable are those who seem to enjoy hard
labor. I think they must be crazy as Minnesota loons.

The new ruling class was necessary in order to implement the reforms that
were at the heart of the system. All utopias need coercion.

Not true. They were ideologues first and foremost who believed in what they
were doing, at least at first. But the realities of human nature turned them
into monsters. It would be the same for you too if you tried to do what they
did despite your best intentions.

Never try to make excuses for what happened in the Soviet Union. It was one
of the greatest undertakings in the history of mankind. They tried as hard
as possible to make it work. The belief in communism was more of a religion
than anything else and when the belief failed the Soviet Union collapsed
like a house of cards.

It is popular expression here in Minnesota.
