Cyclist hit in Raleigh by drunk driver

This is absolutely ridiculous. Once again a cyclist is hit, this time by a drunk driver, and the posts that follow still want to blame the bike for being on the road in the first place. I hope the cyclist will recover and my prayers are with her and her family!!!

According to WRAL, the cyclist has died. The charges against the driver have not yet been upgraded. "Unfortuntate accident" indeed!

Well, they have apparently pulled this story. So, condition of cyclist remains as it was this afternoon.

WRAL updated the story again. The cyclist died.
The 21-year-old driver could face additional charges because Nancy Antoine Leidy died. He was released on bond.

Ok Esther I was on the computer when the story broke and they did not give name The first thing I thought of was you because I new you ride out there sometimes. I relevied it was not you. Then I was angry when they said .12 at 11:00 am he was drunk. It was the topic of conversation with the bikers that I was with last night. No matter how you look at it raleigh needs bike lanes, Even though it would not have helped in this case.

There was another one hit on wed at millbrook and falls the biker made it after hitting the widsheild and another one wat hit this morning on lake boone blue ridge. My friend was going by when it happened Said the bike was getting help into the ambulance to go to rex but the bike was a mess. This is not good for national bike saftey month
