In light of the death of cyclist Nancy Leide and several other recent incidents, fellow reporter Craig Jarvis and I are looking into various aspects of the relationship between bikes and vehicles on our roads. We're particularly curious about enforcement and prosecution in cases where the motorist was charged. We'd like to follow up on cases over the last five to 10 years and see how they were resolved. We're hoping that your collective memory will provide us with specific incidents. If you recall a bike/vehicle crash and can provide us with details, we would be most grateful. If you can't remember every detail, that's fine. The jurisdiction where an incident occurred, when it happened and any names would be much appreciated. Feel free to contact us here or at joe.miller@newsobserver.com or craig.jarvis@newsobserver.com.
Thanks,
Joe

Excellent topic for an article and/or study.

Joe

There was an excellent article about this in Bicycling magazine a couple of months back. I suggest you dig up a copy as it had some stuff in it that would be pertinent to your article.

Also, I'd like to suggest the A&S forum on BikeForums.Net.

Great idea. If we ever host our own charity ride, I would like the charity to be Dave Zabriskie's Yield to Life (http://yieldtolife.org/).;)

From Dave's website:

We all travel life's roads.

I stand before you to ask for your cooperation in providing safe space for cyclists.

When you see a cyclist on the road, please, yield to life.
