Two guys, one from the Army and the other from the Navy, were matched-
up in a 200 meter sprint. One crashed...the other plowed into
him...and both got up and ran with their bikes to the finish.

Navy should be relegated for whatever the offense is when you dumbass it
bigtime in a sprint and wipe out the other guy. Also, this is why I
always race in MTB shoes.

Finally, I'm all in favor of blowing up the enemies of liberal democracy
wherever they may be, but this event is ridiculously prone to metaphoric
readings.

Photo 7 shows what looks like a broken chain on the Navy Midshipmans
bike.

Good catch. I was wondering "what the hell happened?" I was guessing
his foot came out, but that chain is not going around the freewheel,
so you're right.

Picture 1 shows him essentially doing an endo with his rear
wheel off the ground and his body falling forward... exactly
what would happen with a broken chain. IME!
