I will be relocating to the Raleigh-Durham area later this year. I was looking for information about cycling when I came across this site.
I'm interested in finding a club/team for road racing.

Welcome to the Triangle Cycling! Where are you moving from?

Check out these groups/websites:

The Spin Cycle (http://www.thespincycle.com/)/Aflac Racing Team - http://www.capcycling.org/

Trek Raleigh (http://trekraleigh.com/)/Simple Green - Can't find a website for the team.

Raleigh All Stars (http://allstarbikeshop.com/page.cfm?pageID=33)

Cycling Spoken Here (http://cyclingspokenhere.com/) (Cary)

I'm not sure if all of these teams are active this year. The Spin Cycle and Raleigh All Stars are active this year.

North Carolina Teams - http://www.usacycling.org/clubs/index.php?state=NC

Hope this helps!

We sponsor a club and a masters team.

The club is the Raleigh Gyros, check them out at www.raleighgyros.com

The team is the Trek Raleigh/Simple Green team, see them at http://www.cyclesveloce.com/
two teams on here and one in Cali.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the area. I think we have a pretty good cycling scene here and very good race teams for the most part. There are a good variety of teams and each has its strengths. We (The Spin Cycle) sponsor a team..Capital Cycling Club. You can check out their site at http://www.capcycling.org/

Russ Stapleton is the president and he is the primary contact. Best of luck to you and stop by the store sometime. k

Club based in Raleigh: NCBC website, useful for several things including many cue sheets (mostly north of Raleigh):

http://www.ncbikeclub.org/

Club based on Durham / Chapel Hill: Tar Wheels website.

http://www.tarwheels.org/

There are many "MS-150 training clubs / groups", in addtn to some indicated above is the MSingLinks, whose website usually has a good calendar of upcoming rides:

http://www.msinglinks.org/

In addtn to the cycle shops mentioned above and on the "sponsoring" list, depending on where you live in the Triangle, The Bike Chain may be a better located shop (mini-chain):

http://thebicyclechain.com/

Also, check out the NC-DOT website. It has a useful calendar, and a fair number of cycling clubs and shops from around the state are mentioned or have links:

http://www.ncdot.org/transit/bicycle/events/events_calendar.html

There are also mtn bike clubs / sites not mentioned above, but hey, you probably want to do some surfing on your own.

Once you're in town I'd go to the tuesday and thursday night harrington grove rides to meet racers from most of the north raleigh teams @5:45. tuesday is 24 avg and race simulation, thursday is a 22 avg tempo. There's people from cat 1, hard core masters, to people just trying to get that fast. You'll meet a lot of people and can get in with a team.

There's also the saturday morning mission valley ride which is about the fastest pick up group ride on the weekends. It's another hard pace, every man for himself ride.

There may be some in Cary/Apex but I don't know about those.

Thanks for all the input. I'm looking forward (as much as possible) to making the move.
