"daveannholmes@bellsouth.net" to cyclepaths

This Saturday, May 24, we will be riding a modified "Bluegrass Reunion B" route (cue sheet attached). This route has been changed from the one shown on the web site. As several of our riders do not like riding back on Buffalo Road, this route includes only 0.4 mile of Buffalo Road on the return. We will now turn right on Byrd Road which is a great road and usually very quiet, ride up to Lynch Road, cross Hwy. 42 and take a left on Jordan Narron Road and come up the hill for additonal training. Hope you like this route much better than coming all the way back on Buffalo Rd. (Alan and Marion please give this one a try). Thanks to Jay Carter for his suggestion in changing this route for the better.

Our SAG drivers this Sat are Hunter Warren and his friend Morgan. The cel number is: 801-8250. We still need lots of SAG drivers for July and August, please take a turn this year if you have not driven the SAG before, Thanks. Dave H.

Thanks for the route info and, the tcx file. Since the weather forecast for tomorrow seems to be less than ideal, how are weather updates and/or cancellation notices conveyed, via this site maybe? Or, is the ride tomorrow a "rain or shine" ride?

I'll probably just check the weather / radar in the morning and decide then. If there is an email sent out cancelling the ride somebody should post a copy of it here. Pretty sure I'll be riding though.

it's usually "ride on", not weather dependant, and everyone just has to use their own judgement as to whether they come out to ride or not.

in the 2yrs i've been riding with the CP's, i don't think there has been an email sent canceling the rides. just watch the weather and decide accordingly.

I rode the addition to the route last night because when I suggested it, it was based purely off of looking at the maps and I wasnt sure one of the roads was paved. It was tho and I didnt see a car on either road going up or coming back. Hopefully for those that dont liek Buffalo, this will be a nice alternative.

looking at the radar, some rain will blow through this morning but not enough to scare me off. Looks like any we get out Grocery Bag way will be light and scattered, everything heavier is well to the north.

well so much for light and scattered. nothing like 25+ miles out of a 30+ mile route having rain. LOL

oh well, still glad i showed up. i had thought several times about making a break away for an easy and quick route back, but by the time i got the opportunity, i was already on an endorphine kick so i stuck it out til the end.

my poor sidi's are all sloshy :( DOH!

Yeah, seems like it cleared up as soon as we finished! I think I had to spend about as much time cleaning my bike afterwards as I did riding.

Oh well, the temperatures and winds were alright, at any rate.

Good ride today, nice to see so many people come on out even with the iffy weather.

Time: 1:47
Distance: 36.43
Avg: 20.3

The rain notwithstanding, it was a nice ride today. I spent about an hour cleaning up my bike and, because I spent most of the time following Jon and/or Tim, my bike was plenty dirty. I hope this was the last early Spring weather on tap for us. I'm ready for the hot sticky weather now. Of course once it gets here, I'll likely be wishing for the cold rain.

It was good seeing Ray back in the saddle following his surgery. Nice seeing Kevin again too. Looking forward to riding with you guys this summer.

I clocked 33 miles at 19.7 ave. Tim and I stayed on Buffaloe since we did not have a cue sheet (mine came apart in the rain early in the ride) and, we could not keep up with Jon. This cut our ride a few miles short. Of course the best part is that we missed that last hill.

My clothes, and shoes, were really water logged. Took a while to dry everything out.

Hate I missed you guys out on the ride today. I would much rather be out riding in the rain than planting shrubs and bushes in our front yard. I am going to try and make the metric tomorrow at Shearon Harris.
