I'm more interested in the story of Pierre Beuffeuil's stage win, teased
in that same news round-up.

Okay, so Pierre somehow rode past the pack, apparently about 80 km from
the finish in Troyes. Does anyone know why the pack didn't chase him
down and then throw their bidons at him (it would have hurt more back
then, since they were metal)?

When people complain about race radios, this is the sort
of stuff they miss. Some goober slipping away during a
pee break (or a politician's photo op, same thing) to
score a stage win.

Thank God there are race radios to keep stupid ass crap
like this from happening.
