ORANGE COUNTY (WTVD) -- A cyclist is dead after a collision with a SUV in Orange County.
Authorities say they were called to Pleasant Green Road between Ebenezer Church Road and Saint Mary's Road around 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Initial reports indicate the SUV overturned and landed in the woods after hitting the cyclist. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The cyclist died at the scene.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

its a real shame, something that can be so easlily avoided by motorists just paying attention to the road. i wouldn't be surprised if the the driver was on the phone.

What a sad situation. The driver chose to spare the deer and instead killed a human. An unfortunate decision has taken a life and forever changed many more. The only good that can come of this is to remind drivers to be more aware of everything on the road and that they can't just wildly swerve into the oncoming traffic lane to avoid an obstacle in their own lane.
