Hi,
I'm looking for replacement bearings for my Mavic 550 hubset. I've
removed the original bearings but the markings are too worn/ eroded to
see. All I can see is the MAVIC script on the outer diameter.
Does anyone know what the original Mavic bearing numbers are? Are they
the same as bearings for the 501 hubs? Does anyone know of a source
for these bearings?
thanks very much,
sc

Get out yer caliper and measure ID, OD and thickness. Probably a
standard size. Go to a decent bike shop and they will probably have
them. In spite of Mavic's shortcomings, I think they used 'standard'
bearings, not propriatary ones made just for them.

Correct, but don't go to a bicycle shop - go to a bearing distributor.
