In Austin, TX we have Versus HD on Timewarner cable but it's still SD.
Anyone anywhere getting an HD feed on VersusHD?

It was in SD on Directv Versus HD channel too. I was disappointed.
I thought I remember Versus saying in some of their promos that they
would have HD coverage of this year's TDF. Hopefully they will at
least show the big mountain stages in HD. Some of the video window
inserts today were 16:9, so they are accessing the HD feed.
IMO, they are being very short sided not going all HD for this. If
ever an event would benefit from the glories of HD, it's the TDF
because it's a spectacular travelogue with great competition thrown
in. That's the way to attract more viewers. It's got to be a cost
issue. Penny wise & pound foolish.
We'll see.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. And you're correct: It would be gorgeous and
is stoopid.

Well France 2 HD are broadcasting it this year in France and while it
sure beats 4/3 SD on Eurosport, it's far from being as sharp as it
should, looks more like upscaled 16/9 SD to me, even on my 32" HD
Ready LCD.
It seems these days that broadcasters are favoring lack of pixel
blocking over sharpness, same happened between Soccer WC2006 and Euro
2008. The picture was stunning two years ago but very pixellated on
rapid movements, this year it was not pixellated but not very sharp
either.
