View Full Version : Final TT

Phil & Paul were saying today that Sastre needed two minutes on the Alpe
today, but I figured he needed more than that (of course they know
things I don't).

Assuming (!) that their speeds on the final TT are the same as on the
first (i.e. scaling up their finishing times from the first TT), and
assuming (!!) that the other remaining stages make no difference, I get
this final GC:

1) Evans
2) Sastre 43 sec.
3) Menchov 1:18
4) Kohl 2:23
5) F. Schleck 3:02
6) Vande Velde 3:25
7) Valverde 6:01
8) Sanchez 6:13
9) Kirchen 6:45
...
12) A. Schleck 10:32

This doesn't take into account the "super motivation" Sastre will feel
at 43 seconds back, the fact that it's been 2.5 weeks of hard racing
(e.g. statements that Vande Velde gets /stronger/ as the race goes on,
other rider getting tired), the different TT course/length/weather.

Given how close the top three show above (and assuming DS's can do
arithmetic), I'm guessing there might be an attack or two tomorrow.

Pantani was "super motivated" in the final TT in '98

FWIW, in the final time trial last year, Sastre lost 2.33 to Evans.

so *that's* what they meant by "super motivated". We should keep a
tally of which riders and teams are saying that.

Interestingly, for all the crashes, we've yet to see any examples of the
Adrenalin Theory this year.

That's because the rider has to be belted by gamma rays first. It may
also have to do with borderline homicidal rage syndrome, BHRS, which I
just made up.

I might kill you if you keep making stuff like this up. I haven't
decided yet.

If Phil is reading rbr, maybe he'll say 'He's turning the pedals in
BHRS today, Paul"?

(Pronounced 'Brrrs')

Everyone else will think it's a French township, but we'll know
better...
