I've been watching the coverage on Vs, and I have decided the race is
inappropriately named. If it really were a tour, which would be a big
circle, after all, I would expect to see the riders going left-to-right for
several days, then towards the camera for days, then right-to-left, then
away from the camera. This, of course, would apply for a clockwise tour. A
counter-clockwise, or anti-clockwise tour would be right-to-left, towards,
left-to-right, away.

Instead, I have seen left-to-right, right-to-left, away, towards,
right-to-left, etc. in no apparent coherent order, the direction changing by
the minute. This can only be explained if the riders course is haphazzard
rather than "tour" like. Perhaps we should insist the name be changed to le
Serpentin de France.

What annoys me is the term "Le Tour de France" when we should be
seeing more of "La Tour de France", e.g.,

Speaking of which, it's been a very long time since Le Tour has been
to La Rochelle, where I used to spend my summer vacations as a kid.
