What distance? I need to make sure I'm available to ride, but I was thinking about it since I had to miss it last year.

I'm helping organize the CCC/VR4R'08 Cary Cycling Celebration & Jimmy V Ride for Research). It will be a great event again this year.:hyper:

The longer distance ride 50, 75 & 100 groups will roll out early @ 7A... The course will be clearly marketed, q sheets will be provided, the ride will have SAG support plus rest stops & lunch from Moe's SW will be be provide for riders. We're having a swap meet this year too. Come celebrate cycling!

I pulled the cue sheet from the Jimmy V site and it was obvious that the font they chose wasn't going to work for my middle age eyes. So, I copied the details into a word document and biggie sized them to a larger font. For anyone else in the same boat, I attached it.

Note, the blank line after the second rest stop is intentional, it's for folding.

Chuck started a Slow Spokes team for the Jimmy V ride. The information was in another thread, so I thought I'd mention it here in case anyone wants to join us.

So far it's just me, Chuck and Dave signed-up on the team page. I believe that if you are already registered, you can also link-up your registration to the team page. Or you could just find us there and ride the 50 with us. Any takers???

Does anyone know how much the registration fee is? I heard it's $50 but not sure; pretty high from last year. Anyway, I'm also contemplating is as well, because of the fee only; spent a lot of money this month on my daughter's sweet 16 party so I have to be very careful with money.

It was $35 until July 31, but now it's $50. Here's the site: http://www.jimmyv.org/caryweek/index.cfm?ei=7

Hey Chuck, thanks for the info. That's what I thought. will have to check my finances; it stinks when $50 can be a big determining factor.

Come on join us for a great event!!! The registration fee is $50 from now on and that includes same day registration. The ride registration includes a gift bag (socks, t-shirt, coupons, etc), food and drinks before during and after the ride, and a Moe's catered lunch after the rides. Not to mention the net proceeds go to fund cancer research via the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The will be a no fee swap meet from 1-3P that will allow for sale of your bicycle stuff and purchase of others. You will not want to miss this. Bring the family out also. See you then~~

I was torn about riding this because of some work that I need to get done on the house. My bike made the decision for me last night.

My drive side chainstay snapped :eek:27 miles into a 29 mile ride. There is now one less steel bike in the world.:(

Anyone have a 58-60 cm frame they want to sell cheap?

Scott and I will be there - not riding.
Please stop by the NC Bicycle Club table when you make your way to the food after the ride!

Celebrate cycling in Cary at the sixth annual Cary Cycling Celebration. This year the Town of Cary has partnered with The V Foundation to combine the Cary Cycling Celebration and Jimmy V Ride for Research. Events begin at 7 a.m. with the 50, 75 and 100-mile distance rides and a 25-mile distance ride at 10 a.m. The annual Bicycle Rodeo and Family Fun rides will begin at 1 p.m.

sorry i didn't make it out to the ride Chuck and Andrea, I left my helmet in a car that I borrowed while my truck was in the shop so at 530 am while I was getting ready to head out to the ride I couldn't find it. That's when I remembered where it was along with my bike pump. So needless to say I was and still am not a happy camper. Oh well, a donation of $35 to the Jimmy V is never a bad thing. See you on Tuesday.

Dave,
You missed an awesome ride. Temps were just right and the cloud cover was a bonus. I don't know if it was the great weather, the route, something in the water, or whatever...but Chuck and I averaged 18.2 going into the first rest stop and 17.9 going into the second. We took it easy on Tingen after the second stop.

Time: 2:43
Distance: 45.5
Average: 16.8

We were wondering where you were. Sorry to hear that. You missed a good ride. As you can see by our pace, Andrea pushed me pretty hard. It'll take a couple days for me to recover.
