Indeed, I can't think of anything that could be done either that would not
improve Usenet more. Anonymity is the curse of Usenet and of the Internet in
general. It means that you can say any damn fool thing that pops into your
head and not have to take any responsibility for it.

I have always admired Tom Sherman for using his real name. He has not
steered away from controversy or been any less forthcoming because of it.
Jim McNamara has also been excellent in this regard. I can never really be
mad at folks who use their real names in Usenet messages. It is not bravery
to do this, it is just common decency.

I have used my real name right from the beginning. Anyone here think that I
have been at all reticent because of it? I occasionally get some unwelcome
emails and telephone calls, but I can live with it. If you have to hide
behind a user name, maybe you should not be here in the first place.
