Anyone doing the Tour de Moore this year? It's scheduled for Labor Day (Sept 1) and offers 28, 50 and 100 mile options. The century ride rolls out of Southern Pines at 8:30 am and starts out pretty fast until it hits the "Sandhills".
I am, but only the 50.
Don't know of any other rides that weekend, but we might do a TeamCBC one that weekend as well.

Interesting ride but, I do wish the century would start earlier than 8:30 because this stretches the ride out into the hotter part of the day. Of course by early September we might have relief from these 95 degree afternoons. Lets hope so anyway.
I also don't see mention of showers. When we rode the Roan Moan event the fire department set up a fire hose as a header with the water heated by a a kerosene heater. Shower stalls were a makeshift polyethylene tarp arrangement that was quite simple and effective. In fact it worked really well. These other organized events should take note of this idea.
I will likely sign up for this event since Labor day is free for me right now. I haven't ridden in this area and would like to. If it is going to be hot, I'll opt for the half century.
Neal,
Anytime you want to come down to ride Lee or northern Moore county, let us know. Bob and I can take you on a truly traffic free ride for as many miles as you want to go, with beer at the end!
