Just wondering who all planned on making it out to the TSC ride on Thursday. It's my last day/ride in town before I head back up to Western so I was hoping for a good sized group.

I hear that. I planned on riding in the morning and thanks to the rain all day, I just sat around and packed.

I would try to make this one, but the bike is still out of commission until I get the wheels swapped out. I am going to try to get some miles in friday and maybe a little on Saturday before the Jimmy V on sunday.

Have a good ride....

OakesJC is a buddy from High school...a long time ago....give him a warm welcome!

Hey, just wanted to apologize for the break-up in the C ride tonight. I know the ride isn't posted as no drop, but I feel some responsibility for the separation. I'm glad everyone made it back in though. If that was your first time out there on the TSC ride, know that they aren't always that way. When Lee leads the rides are great.

I was there ... not sure if I was in the B or C or what. Pretty slow pace until Tingen and all of a sudden it seemed like we were doing sprints.

The route was OK, but having to cut through Cary is always a pain. I know some folks use that portion to warm up but I usually ride to the rides for my warm up so I am ready to go. A beautiful evening for riding.

If it felt like you were doing sprints it was probably the B pace ride. It was a great night to ride.

The sprints you guys witnessed was Jon calling my momma a name and all of us trying to catch him.:D The average from Tingen/Salem to Tingen/Holly Springs was 28.2 :eek::eek::eek: Then it dropped to around 24 from there to Tingen/Friendship.:eek:

My stats:

Avg 18.0
Dist 31.5
Time 1:44 ( I think)

Note to anyone not familiar with the posse...this is NOT a normal pace or action during a store ride. This was due in part to several factors. We did not have Lee lead tonight nor was the B pace leader present...AND... we got rained out last night. When that happens our carbon fiber love buggies take on a mind of their own.:D

The thursday ride from TSC is one of the best weekly group rides. Normally the pace is around 15-16 for the C ride and 16-18 for the B ride. Lee also does a great job leading and even takes time to work with pacelines, etc.

As for tonight if it was your first time please come back and join us for more civilized riding.:)

I don't know what speed we rode at tonight (didn't bring my Garmin), but it was a pretty quick pace. The past three times we've done this my average has been 19 +/-.

Lee is good at holding the C group back during the Tingen surge, I guess things got a little carried away back there tonight without him!

Weather was awesome, and nice to go get beer and burgers with Dave, Karen, Tim, Chris afterwards.

ummm, it's not just when a ride leader is not present that this happens when you are on the front, you know. you get carried away every ride and blow the freakin' stated pace all to hell and back. i think you need to see about racin' next year.

and, i didn't blow up due to the pace on tingen. i blew up because from monday thru thursday i've eaten less than 25-30g of carbs a day AND cut calories WAY back to like 1000cal or less. i had nothing in my legs for any kind of grade change or any hard riding yesterday. serious cramps after the ride, as bad as the ones i had at the 7/4 ride with andy.

i won't be doing that low carb/cal crap again anytime soon. in fact, i got up this morning and ate 6 whole wheat pancakes and a big glass of milk to wash it down with. :)

Just saying that I wasn't on the C ride, so I don't know what happened back there. If me being on the B ride caused the people on the C ride to go faster then thanks, that's pretty cool!

KarenG

no, the C ride was fine after everyone got regrouped, but it too fell apart due to no real leader. Lee seems to keep everyone together from teh one ride i did with him 2 wks ago.

all i'm sayin' is you sometimes get with a group and then just forget you are with a group and go out like you're going somewhere to put a fire out. you just go too hard most of the time jon when in a group situation. i understand you wanting to go hammer, i've been there done that, but when in a group ride, it's not about the individual but about what is good for the group of people you are with.

and, i also realize, these rides are not no-drop, but seems like common courtesy to keep the group together best one can and make sure everyone gets back safely. the last part of that sentence is the biggie - especially if it's a woman that gets left hanging by herself and the way things are getting with drivers too, it's just not as safe.

jes' sayin'. not trying to pick a fight or anything either. so, just don't get your drawers in a wad over the above. ;) :D

Ya, I was in front next to some guy with aero bars when it started ... I looked down and we were doing 28 or so. I just can't keep that pace up for too long. I dropped back a bit but managed to crawl back into that pack. I rode in a group of 4 or 5, one of the guys (also with aero bars) had on a Pirate jersey. When we reached Friendship they headed toward Sharon Harris and I headed towards 64 as I had to get home for dinner.

OK. I am (probably) out of town next week but may try again after that. I usually do the Apex CSH rides but it is fun to ride with different people. Unless you lose a lung in the process :-)

I am glad I decided to ride my bike to work instead of coming out for the "C" ride. That is a great ride when Lee is leading, but when Lee is not there, it is not a C ride.

I was a first timer last night to the group, did pace c, avg 17mph for the night, and didn't finish with the group. I knew after tingen we would be much faster than the posted avg on the website. I will be back again however. It will be interesting to see how the ride goes under different circumstances.

you guys are out of control!!!!:hyper:

the best was when Jon rolled into the parking lot and was calm and relaxed then a few mins later Chris came flying in hootin' and hollarin' "dude, we were FLYING chasing Jon"

I hope to be up to that pace next year....Glad I could atleast make it out for chow and guzzle afterwards...

OakesJC - glad you made the ride and I will see you soon!

Hey, just wanted to apologize for the break-up in the C ride tonight. I know the ride isn't posted as no drop, but I feel some responsibility for the separation. Actually, the ride IS supposed to be a 15-17 mph no drop ride (http://www.thespincycle.com/events.asp?level1=weekly_store_rides)

Quoting from the above link:

"No jackrabbit pulls at the front that hurt the line. We are not racing, and we are not trying to drop anybody. If you want to go faster, then look for one of our faster rides."

"If anyone in the group is having a bad ride and gets gapped off, the group should ease up and let them back on."
