Jay, you ride Cary Parkway, Highhouse Rd, Davis Dr, Kildaire Farm Rd, NC-751 & you think there is too much traffic on Carpenter Pond Rd? I think you are suffering from familiarity induced mis-perception.

If returning the 1.5 miles on Six Forks Rd from 98 to BJP turn-off bothers you (traffic there oftens bothers me), then I suggest trying Ghoston, Peed, MT Vernon Church to finish - almost no traffic. Complete a few rides with that finish, and you will have learned how to ride hills.

And if you don't like the 0.7 m segment on 98 between Boyce Mill & Coley - well, I think you know what I think of that stretch given the safer alternative nearby.

As for hills ... this is the NC Piedmont.

I too am a cold weenie. At least when it is below 40, windy, and little prospect of warming up. However,

I took the dog to BJP to hike Falls Lake Trail & can report that there were many, many (approx 20) cyclist autos parked in the typical cycling gathering point lot. If SlowSpokes had ridden with a full contingent, the one lot would have been overflowing. (No one was at Pleasant Union School; I found that a bit unusual.) So at least hardy souls were out there this morning.

I think the autos belonged primarily to All-Star & Volvo(?)-Trek(?) racing teams, and Road Dogs. Didn't notice any familiar Gyros autos, but maybe some were Gyros.
