Ok, I plan to be there for the 50, but if the heat's too oppresive will shorten the route at the 50 / 34 decision point.

Rode w/the faster group until we hit the decision point (Shearon Harris & Old US 1), and decided to ride the 34 mile route. OK...so my mind was already made-up way before I got there. Rode back to SBV with Jeff and Tom. I averaged 15.7. I think Jeff & Tom may have averaged a little higher than me because they reached the decision point before I did.

Welcome to the Saturday ride, Tom!

I saw you guys this morning as my wife and returned and passed the SH plant gate. You guys had a big group today! Stacie and I did a short 26 mile out/back from the visitors center to the Wilsonville store starting around 745am. We'll probably do that a few more times before she'll be ready for the hills on the Salt Box route.

Had a great time on the ride yesterday. Since I am awful at names I won't try, but thanks for the great ride and guidance from a guy who does not get a chance to come up to Cary and sweat off 10 lbs much!

Sat 27

I'm just starting cycling this year. I didn't see this thread until after the 20th. I should be able to do the 50, is it ok if I show up on the 27th (with the waiver, of course).

Thanks!

Rob

Hey Rob,

We have a fairly regular group of riders for the Salt Box Village (SBV) ride and many of us dont bother to chime in on the thread (before or after the ride).

New riders are always welcome. The 50 milers are averaging between 15.5 and 17 mph. We generally wait at turns for everyone to catch up, but sometimes we break into smaller groups if our paces are too far apart.

See you next Saturday. I'll probably be there.
